TEST

Test is the way of assessment to measure students understanding about the specific course. The
purpose of test is to know each individual difficulty in a particular subject.

The characteristics:

1. Reliability, means that the test is consistent and trust-worthy.


2. Validity, means that the test is must really measure what it has been designed to measure.
3. Objectivity, means that the test must measure or evaluate the three domains of students
development, which is cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domain.
4. Norms, means that the score of test is obtained by whom this test intended and it has
basis of comparison.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment is a systematic process which is needed to assess students' performance through test.
The purpose is to gather relevant information about student performance or progress, or to
determine student interests to make judgments about their learning process.

The characteristics:

1. Content validity, means that the assessment must measure what is supposed to be
measured. Therefore, it needs the specific purpose, nothing more.
2. Reliability, means that the assessment would have the same results although it still used
by the same students in different situation or time.
3. Objective, means that the assessment is objective and not under the influence of assessor
subjectively.
4. Balanced, means that the assessment would still balance although it divided into different
objectives or materials and still have a real score.
5. Distinguish, means that the assessment should able to distinguish the variety of students'
individual achievements; whether the students are very successful, successful, or less
successful.
6. Norms, means that a good assessment should be easily interpreted.
7. Fair, means that the content or words is understandable for every student.
8. Practical, means that the assessment is easy and efficient to implement.

EVALUATION

Evaluation is the process of obtaining the data and information needed to determine the extent
and how the learning has been carried out in order to be able to make the necessary judgments
and improvements to maximize the results. The purpose is to provide information relating to
student progress or to encourage students’ learning motivation.

The characteristics: it leads to continuous learning and improvement, opportunity about


development of students’ understanding, and it contains accurate and technically information for
students learning process.

MEASUREMENT

Measurement is a process related to quantifiable part of tests, it requires to measure the efficacy
of learning and students’ improvement. It is very important since it has relation with assessment.
Without measurement, teacher/stakeholders don’t know the quantity of assessment for the test.
The purpose is to measure students’ test or process based on certain standards.

Characteristics:

1. The measurement results are quantitative or in the form of numbers.


2. The measurement results are descriptive.
