Narrative Report Part 2
Apprenticeship serves an important purpose, not only for teaching students about
their chosen profession, but also for exposing them to the realities of being a worker.
Students were exposed to actual labor related to the course they were pursuing. Those
with no prior experience were also able to work and gain knowledge concurrently. The
apprentices were able to expand their knowledge of their chosen discipline and put their
able to do things successfully, and the training will have enhanced their professionalism
in interacting with people. After completing the training, the trainees were able to
appropriately manage situations and interact with others in the workplace. Additionally,
they were able to collaborate with everyone. Apprenticeship also improved the critical
thinking skills and self-discipline of students who received their training in an institution.
Their ability to make decisions and assess relevant factors have been improved.
trainees with the opportunity to meet actual professionals and individuals holding
various positions within the institution. The trainees were able to adjust to other
individuals' characteristics and attitudes. Apprenticeship calls for diligence and focus.
The trainees took the apprenticeship seriously as a potent instrument for preparing for
WEEK 1
JULY 3 - 7 2023
On the first day of the week, students were deployed to the Philippine-Sino
Center for Agricultural Technology, where they were given a short tour of the institution,
met the faculty, workers, and staff, and became acquainted with new faces in the office.
Mr. Val Garcia, the supervisor of the Crop Protection department, gave a brief history of
PhilSCAT to the students in their showroom and in the workshop containing the
machinery used to harvest the rice in their fields on the second day, additionally, he
gave reading materials for the students to be familiarized more to the pest and diseases
that they about to encounter on their monitoring. The third and fourth day was devoted
to daily monitoring of the fields that Mr. Garcia assigned to the students, that included a
small notebook detailing what they observed on the field and what recommendations
they must make to ameliorate the problem on their respective fields. On the final day of
the week, the faculty instructed the students to prepare for land preparation and to
practice seedling pulling, allowing them to experience how difficult it is to properly pull
rice. Nonetheless, the students enjoyed chatting and laughing with the women who
were in the field, who also instructed them on how to correctly bundle rice.

DAILY WORK ACTIVITIES
WEEK 2
JULY 10 - 14 2023
The faculty informed the students that they would be roughing the field during the
second week. Crop Protection Department and Crop Science Department collaborated
on rouging, which means walking across a field and treading on weeds until they are
completely buried, or manually removing the weeds. Mr. Garcia instructed the students
on Tuesday to prepare to meet Mr. Jerwin R. Undan for the introduction to water agar
isolation; however, water agar was not available on Tuesday. On the positive note, he
has just altered the students' disease collection medium from water agar to Potato
Dextrose Agar (PDA). Additionally, he gave the students a tour of the laboratory and
field monitoring for the data that will be used for their paper requirements.

JULY 17 - 21 2023
Students were tasked to do their regular pest and disease monitoring at their
allotted field on the first and second days of the third week of the apprenticeship. The
were instructed to attend a brief drone seminar by Mr. Danilo B. Macato Jr.. The
purpose of this seminar is to provide students with the necessary information, important
skills, and applications that can enhance the students' educational and agricultural
endeavors. The brief drone training program provides students with an opportunity to
agriculture, which widens their range of potential career paths. Additionally, this seminar
serves to foster a culture of creativity and innovation among the students. On Thursday,
students participated in a seminar led by Mr. Val C. Garcia that focused on major insect
pests of rice and its management and introduction to biogas and its purpose discussed
by Mr. Danilo B. Macato Jr. On Friday, students continued their regular pest and

JULY 24 - 28 2023
During the first two days of the concluding week of apprenticeship, the students
diligently conducted routine pest and disease monitoring activities inside their assigned
field. On Wednesday, students were allocated a period of time to complete their review
paper on the impact of insect pests, diseases, and weed infestation in rice production,
as well as a narrative report pertaining to the regular pest and disease monitoring
undertaken by the students. On Thursday, the students of the Philippine-Sino Center for
morning session. Subsequently, in the afternoon, the students were allocated time to
diligently complete their review article and narrative report. On the designated day of
Friday, students were bestowed with recognition for their diligent efforts exhibited
