I. NAME OF PROGRAM: RNHS INTRAMURALS 2022

II. PROGRAM PROPONENT: MAPEH Teachers

III. RATIONALE:

Sport is defined as regular physical activities for different purposes and it is a concept,
which is aimed at satisfying the subconscious emotions of human beings, such as integrating set
of physical, psychological and mental efforts, and socializing (Eime et al., 2013; Aydemir,
2014). Nowadays, physical activities such as playing sports gradually increases its benefits and
positive effects to people. People do sports activities for their personal development as well as
for their mental and social health. Furthermore, according Ghildiyal, 2015 it is the most effective
form of activity that enables people to prepare for life psychologically and with this aspect
contributes to the psychosocial and personal balance. A study conducted by Düz and Aslan in
2020, sports improve a lot of life skills such as team work, goal setting, taking initiative, respect
for others, time management, leadership, problem solving, decision-making, cognitive,
emotional, communicational and social skills.

The Philippine basic education is not only focused on the academic aspect of education, it
also prioritizes sports as indicated in the Physical Education Curriculum. As a proof there were
student athletes who joined sporting events and won. They serve as the inspiration of our
students who want to engage themselves in sports. Sporting event such as intramurals is a will
serve as their spring board in reaching their athletic dreams. This is also an activity wherein
sportsmanship and development of good camaraderie between students and the school will be
promoted.

Sports as included in the curriculum is a necessary to develop students holistically. This

will help them to avoid doing passive activities such as playing online games and vices such as
smoking and drinking alcohol. The students of Rang-ayan National High School have a potential
in sports, as a proof, the school developed skilled athletes who already competed in higher meets
and won. To name some, Virginia Gonzales, Madelyn Piedad and Reymar Abella, Jericho
Soloria (chess); Lean Febrero, Wena Anudon, Carla Sadia (athletics); John Carlo Castro and
John Alexis Raguindin (Sepak Takraw); and Sean Michael Binbinon (swimming) who is a Silver
Medalist during the DepEd DOS Rise held last April 27-29, 2022. That is why every year we are
holding Intramurals activity in preparation for a higher meet.

The program aims to achieve the following objectives:

 To hold an Intramural in the school in preparation for higher meet.
 To provide fun, safe and structured play experiences as a part of their recreational
