Assignment -I

(UNIT - I & II)

1. What are the drivers of IIOT?

Ans. The drivers of IIOT are increased efficiency, productivity, and safety
in industrial processes.

2. What is the architecture of IIoT .

Ans. The architecture of IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) consists of
four layers:
a) The perception layer: This layer involves sensors and other devices that
collect data from the environment.
b) The network layer: This layer includes connectivity technologies such
as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet, which allow devices to communicate
with each other.
c) The platform layer: This layer comprises software and cloud-based
platforms that process and analyze data in real-time.
d) The application layer: This layer includes applications and services
that provide insights, visualization, and control of industrial processes.

3. Explain industry 4.0.

Ans. Industry 4.0 refers to the fourth industrial revolution, which is
characterized by the integration of advanced technologies such as IIOT,
artificial intelligence, and robotics into industrial processes. Industry 4.0
aims to improve efficiency, productivity, and flexibility in manufacturing
by enabling the autonomous operation of machines, real-time data
analysis, and predictive maintenance.

4. Explain the industrial process in detail.

Ans. The industrial process involves the conversion of raw materials into
finished products through various stages of manufacturing, such as
assembly, machining, and testing. The process typically involves the use
of industrial equipment such as machines, robots, and conveyors, which
are controlled by computer systems. The process also requires the
monitoring and control of various parameters such as temperature,
pressure, and humidity, to ensure product quality and safety.

5. Identify the sensors and actuators used in the smart dustbin and
explain the installation procedure of sensors and actuators in the
smart dustbin.
Ans. The sensors and actuators used in a smart dustbin may include
ultrasonic sensors for detecting the fill level, temperature sensors for
monitoring the internal temperature, and servo motors for opening and
closing the lid. The installation procedure for sensors and actuators in
the smart dustbin would involve mounting the sensors at appropriate
locations within the dustbin and connecting them to a microcontroller or
a wireless network. The servo motors can be attached to the lid using
brackets and controlled through a microcontroller or a motor driver.

6. Identify the sensors and actuators used in the smart farming and
explain the installation procedure of sensors and actuators in the
smart farming.
3. Ans. The sensors and actuators used in smart farming may include soil
moisture sensors for monitoring the moisture content of the soil,
temperature and humidity sensors for monitoring the environment, and
actuators such as irrigation systems or drones for automated watering and
fertilization. The installation procedure for sensors and actuators in smart
farming would involve burying the soil moisture sensors at appropriate
depths in the soil, installing temperature and humidity sensors at various
locations within the farming area, and mounting actuators such as
irrigation systems or drones at suitable locations. The sensors and
actuators would be connected to a microcontroller or a wireless network
for data collection and analysis.

7. Explain RAMI 4.0

Ans. RAMI 4.0 (Reference Architecture Model for Industry 4.0) is a
reference model developed by the German government for the
implementation of Industry 4.0. RAMI 4.0 provides a standardized
architecture and vocabulary for the development and implementation of
industrial systems. It includes three dimensions: the functional dimension,
which describes the components and functions of the system; the
information dimension, which describes the data and information flows
within the system; and the communication dimension, which describes
the communication protocols and technologies used in the system.

8. Explain Modibus
Ans. Modbus is a communication protocol commonly used in industrial
automation systems. It allows for the communication between devices such
as sensors, actuators, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) over a
serial or Ethernet connection. Modbus supports a master-slave architecture,
where the master device sends requests to the slave devices to read or write
data.

9. Explain Wireless
Ans. Wireless refers to the communication of data between devices without
the use of physical wires. Wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth,
and cellular networks are commonly used in industrial automation systems
for the transmission of data between sensors, actuators, and control systems.

10.Explain DigiStrom
Ans. DigiStrom is a German project for the development of a
decentralized energy management system for industrial buildings.
DigiStrom aims to enable the efficient use of renewable energy sources
and reduce energy.
