Introduction:

"Introduction to ERP systems" is designed for the participants of CIMP. Overall introduction and
orientation of the enterprise class software system is intended. The course focuses on business
processes and their mapping and execution with the help of computer based information systems.
There will be 24 sessions. The exams are mentioned in the class schedules. Each session will be
displayed as a topic in the following list. A session will typically contain a PowerPoint file, external links
and demo/hands on activities. A quiz may also accompany certain topics.

Course Objectives:
 Understand the importance of ERP in contemporary business processes
 Distinguish between business processes and business functions
 To be able to perform business transactions using ERP systems
 Understand and appreciate the ERP implementation issues
 Broadly describe the strategic role played by ERP

Course Leaning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be
expected to:

 Implement and perform business transactions using ERP software


 Explore key processes in Finance, Marketing and Sales, HR, and SCM.
 Elaborate on the architecture and components of a typical ERP package
 Reasonably well equipped to use ERP (any) under normal business environment.
 Understand the role of consultant in this domain
 Equip themselves for the successful implementation of ERP in a business organization as an user
or implementation partner.
