Comparing and ordering allow us to describe the relationship between groups
of objects or things around us.

Why compare and order whole numbers?
I. PRELIMINARIES
A. Review: What are the relational symbols used for comparing numbers?
B. Focus: Ordering Whole Numbers
C. Motivation: Activity: Organize Me
D. Activating Prior Knowledge: How do you arrange numbers from
greatest to smallest and vice versa?
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT
A. Presentation of Concept:
The students will know the proper way of ordering numbers.
The students will be able to practice ordering of whole numbers in increasing
and decreasing order.

 Boardwork: Arrange the numbers


 Model the process of ordering numbers on the board in increasing and
decreasing order.

B. BROADENING OF CONCEPT

1. Group Activity (15 minuyes)

a. The students will be divided into 5 groups. The teacher will distribute index
cards or slips of paper with different whole numbers to each member of the
group.
b. Within 2 minutes, the students will stand up and form a line in the classroom
based on the numbers they have on their cards.

2. Real-life Application

a. Present real-life scenarios that involve ordering of whole numbers, such as


arranging students by their heights or organizing a list of prices.
b. Allow groups to present their solutions to the class, explaining their
reasoning and the order they determined.

V. PURPOSEFUL ASSIGNMENT
Research on the different population of the following countries: Japan,
Thailand, Vietnam, India, and Cambodia. Arrange the population numbers in
increasing order and decreasing order.
