POINTS TO BE KEPT IN MIND
• Write in a formal tone.
• Use a suitable beginning to set the tone of the letter.
• Write what you have to say –clearly,
briefly and precisely.
• Be courteous and tactful. Avoid offending
words/language.
• Write in a simple clear language. The style of a letter
depends on the nature of its contents. Business letters
should be short, concise and to the point and the
official letters, formal and dignified.
• Correct spellings are equally desirable even in
the most familiar forms of correspondence. A
letter should be legible, straightforward, and
grammatically correct.
• Avoid bad punctuation which is often the cause of
obscurity.
