When I was a kid, when I hear or see the word "Justice", I always think that it is

connected to such wrongful doings or acts that makes it unequal to others that happens and the

justice is being given alone to whom the victims are. I even think automatically that there was a

crime happened when this word "Justice" is shown on news, social media, and especially on

televisions. Like a crime has been made and which justice is just applied or given to the victim.

Additionally, I see a lot of people getting their own justice on televisions and that's the reason

why I always connect the word "Justice" to "Crime". As a kid back then, I always thought and

say to my parents that “How does the government even give the right for criminal to have their

own rights even if they are proven guilty?” “Why can’t the government just punish directly all

the criminals without considerations being given to them? As time goes by, my doubts and

questions about this deepens up until now. Also, since the term Human Rights is connected to

justice, I know that this is the freedom of people whether what to do, what you really have, or

what you want, and to choose on your own without obstructions.

At the present time, I am now a college student. There are experiences and lessons that

have thought me how to define and understand this what we called justice. My knowledge and

insights about this widened after every lesson that was discussed and will still be broadened by

the upcoming lessons in this class and generally, in life. These factors really help me broaden my

knowledge to what does “justice” define, what it really means and what is it for. Now, I have

finally gotten an answer and clarification. That this word “justice” is really deep, like it is a

treatment given equally to all people who really needs it, even those people who have been

accused as criminals has also the right or chance to have it equally without discrimination.

Simply, it is a protection to other people, and at the same time, it is also a punishment to those

who deserves it. On the other hand, I also gathered information about the kinds of justice that are
given to people. First is the Redistributive justice, which is given to those people what they've

deserve. For instance, you work equally therefore they pay you equally too. Secondly, the

Compensatory Justice, which is being given to those victims a compensation depends of the

damage being brought or made by a wrongful doing or an incident. Lastly, the Socialist which is

being given to those people equally and depends either on their state of life and needs.

Furthermore, same as the definition of “Human Rights”, now that I am old enough, I know that I

was slightly wrong back then for what I have understand about the “Rights”. Yes, we have our

own rights to act or do what we really want, but still, we need to consider whether our act is good

or it is against the law. It is where now the term “Duties” enters as it means as what people really

do, where we need to do our acts correctly as an obligation to be as a responsible citizen of our

country.

In general, it can be said that the terms justice, human rights, and duties are all connected

to each other. Justice by far is taking reasonable efforts to ensure that no innocent individuals are

unjustly exposed to criminal punishment, holding those responsible for their actions accountable,

all people have their own human rights and is respected, and treating all people equally, without

discrimination based on such race, societal class, or gender. When one’s rights is neglected and

treated unequally, this will lead to an act of injustice. Further, in all the actions we do, we have

our duties and responsibilities as a citizen and as a human. So, as time goes by, more and more

perspectives from different people will be shown and taught to me about these factors in this

world we live in. But as I encounter these circumstances, I know for the fact that I have already

gained enough knowledge about all of these and will not tolerate any injustice or inhumane act in

this what we called world and life.
