5Rs in waste management stands for reduce, reuse, recycle, recover,


and repair.

Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Recover and Repair are ways of Waste


Management. These are the modern methods used to effectively
manage our wastes. Practicing the 5Rs also makes help our
surroundings clean and beautiful. Managing waste is everyone’s
responsibility. We live in a beautiful world. It is our duty to protect,
preserve and conserve our environment.
• Recycle- It is the process of converting waste materials into new
materials and objects
• Reduce- To make something smaller or use less, resulting in a
smaller amount of waste. Wastereduction simply
means reducing the things that we use and only consume what
is necessary.
• Reuse- Reusing is a method or a practice of using something
again.
• Recover- means taking energy or material from wastes that
cannot be use anymore.
• Repair- fixing or restoring broken items to be used again.
If people will really follow the 5Rs of Waste Management,
harmful effects of waste materials to the environment will be
prevented.
