Attendance Tracker: We ended our week last week with 17% students chronically absent…down from the previous
week of 23%. Parents are the only way to help our state school rating for attendance, please make sure your student gets to
school. The state counts ALL absences (excused or not) in their chronically absent rating.

DMC Happenings this Week: We have a full week of school! Tuesday at 6 pm is our monthly PTA meeting in the
MP Room, Wednesday the 18th is our monthly Family DMC Dinner Night at Chik-Fil-A on Eastern, Thursday 10/19
will be participating in the Nevada Great Shake Out; earthquake drill, and Friday our second round of AppleCore
Bookmarks are due.

Thank you Families: We appreciate your support for your child’s education. It was a very successful Teacher Parent

ATTENDANCE NOTICE (second post)

Parents we are routinely having over 20% of our students absent each week. This is chronic absenteeism which we are
penalized for from the State of Nevada. After meeting with our Region Association Superintendent, Mr. Solomon, we were
given the “go ahead” to implement Required Parent Conferences (RPCs) to students and parents who have been
chronically absent last year and now on track to be chronically absent this year. At this conference parents will be given a
notice of the absent regulation and policy along with a RETENTION paper to sign. This paper will notice you, the parent, that
if your child(ren) are chronically absent again this year they will repeat their current grade REGARDLESS OF GRADES. We
are also starting paperwork on a number of families regarding EDUCATIONAL NEGLECT as not bringing your child to
school is against the law.
ANY ABSENCE COUNTS TOWARDS CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM: EXCUSED, MEDICAL, PRE-ARRANGED,
UNEXCUSED. THREE TARDIES ALSO COUNTS AS ONE ABSENCE. MISSING 2 DAYS OF SCHOOL PER
MONTH IS DEEMED CHRONICALLY ABSENT (18 DAYS TOTAL).
Administration will begin gathering information regarding past chronic and current chronic absenteeism next week and RPC
notices will begin to go out the following week.
