Materials and Equipment Function

Gulaman  Gulaman, is a substance from seaweed that commonly used as a
solidifying agent in culture media to aid in the isolation and study of
specific bacteria strains.
Peptone  Peptone is an enzymatic protein digest that is essential for bacterial
growth, providing essential nutrients like amino acids, and peptides. It
is also added to culture media to promote bacterial growth.
Meat Extract  Meat extract is a nutrient-rich substance utilized in laboratories to
provide essential nutrients for bacteria's growth and metabolism,
including vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.
Tap/Distilled Water  Distilled water is essential in laboratories as a solvent and diluent for
reagents and solutions, removing impurities for purity-critical
experiments.
Beakers  Beakers are used for holding, missing and reagents liquids during
experiments. It is available in various sizes and equipped with spouts
for easy pouring without spillage.
Petri Dish  A petri dish is a sterile, cylindrical glass or plastic container used to
culture microorganisms, providing a sterile environment and allowing
air circulation.
Stirring Rods  Stirring rods are used for laboratory mixing, distributing heat evenly
and ensuring thorough chemical mixing.
Aluminum Foil/Paper  Aluminum foil is commonly used in laboratories to protect containers
and objects from light, moisture, and air, while also ensuring sterility
and preventing contamination.
Labelling Pad  Labelling pads are essential for laboratory organization, allowing
researchers to clearly mark containers with important information like
date and contents, ensuring accurate sample identification and
preventing confusion during experiments.
Autoclave  The autoclave is used for sterilization. It uses a high-pressure steam to
kill microorganisms on instruments, ensuring the equipment is free
from contaminants that could affect experimental outcomes.
Electronic Balance  Electron balance is a tool used for precise mass measurement. It helps
scientists with determining the required quantity for experiments or
calculating reaction yield.
Graduated Cylinder  A graduated cylinder is a tool used by scientists to accurately measure
liquid volumes, with markings along its length to cater to their
experimental needs.
Test Tube Rack  A test tube rack is a device that organizes and maintains the stability of
multiple test tubes during experiments or storage.
Test Tube Brush  The test tube brush is essential for cleaning glassware like test tubes.
As it helps remove residue and impurities that could affect experiments
or contaminate samples.
Cotton  Cotton is a vital component in laboratories, serving as a filtering
material for solids and liquids, and a stopper for controlled reactions in
containers.
