Visit our MS TEAMS for Laboratory and go to the Files section. Open the folder in that section entitled “pictures of lab
equipment and apparatuses. This folder contains pictures of chemistry lab equipment and apparatuses stored inside
MAC laboratory storage room. Your task is to identify as many equipment and apparatuses as you can in the pictures,
then write their name on the table provided below, then give their respective uses. Add more rows to the table below if
the present number of rows is not enough.

Note: Each apparatus you were able to name and determine its function corresponds to one full point for this activity.

When you’re done answering, submit this activity report to your activity folder in the Files section of our MS TEAMS for
the lab, after securing your own copy, which will serve as your reviewer.

1 Clay triangle Used to hold crucible and porcelain dishes heated by a Bunsen burner.
2 Volumetric flask Used to prepare and make up a solution to know the volume.
3 Wire gauze It is used to diffuse the heat, helping to protect the glassware.
4 Burette clamp Used specifically to hold and secure a burette on a stand, so that a
burette is fixed and more convenient for the experiment.
5 Moisture analyzer It is used to determine the moisture content of produced or processed
items.
6 Safety goggles It is used to protect the eyes from any liquids or chemicals splash,
irritating mists, vapors, and fumes.
7 Test tube brush Test tube brush is used for cleaning test tubes and narrow mouth
laboratory glassware.
8 Micropipette It is used to accurately and precisely transfer volumes of liquids in the
microliter.
9 Micro burette Micro burette is used to dispense and measure variable amounts of
liquids or sometimes gas within chemical and industrial testing
specially for the titration process in volumetric analysis.
10 Clevenger apparatus Clevenger apparatus is used for essential oil extraction using steaming.
11 Ring stand Ring stand are used to hold glassware in place during an experimental
procedure.
12 Crucible tongs Crucible tongs are used to grasp a hot crucible, flask, evaporating
dishes, or even small beaker.
13 Utility clamp Used to support laboratory glassware such as flask, burettes and
beakers to avoid breakage.
14 WBC & RBC pipette It is used to facilitate the uniform desperation of the blood cells in the
diluting fluid.
15 Retort stand Used to support in filtration.
16 Iron ring Iron ring is used to support flask of funnels upright in stand.
17 Beakers Beakers are used as rection container or to hold liquid or solid sample.
It is also used to catch liquids from one container to another.
18 Watch glass Use for evaporation in chemistry. It can also be employed for weight
solid and as lid for flask and beaker.
19 Spatula It is utensils that help mixing, scraping, and other task related to
transferring materials and sample from one place to another.
20 Alcohol lamp Alcohol lamp is used for heating, combustion and sterilization in a
laboratory.
21 Test tube Used to hold small amount of substance that are usually liquids.
22 Crucible Crucible is used to stop metals, glad’s and pigment from melting in a
furnace.
23 Tripod Tripod is used as a platform to support glassware, such as flask and
beakers during experiment and when glassware is not used.
24 Triple beam Triple beam is used to measure the mass of various objects.
25 Spot plate It is used to perform reaction on a small amount of chemicals.
26 Laboratory balance Laboratory balance are used to measure an object mass to the most
accurate level.
27 Graduated cylinder Graduated cylinder is used for measuring the volumes of liquids.
28 Cotton balls Cotton balls is used in medical field including cleaning out wounds
with hydrogen peroxide or applying iodine, applying antiseptics or
tropical ointments, and stopping blood after the injection is given or
blood withdrawn.
29 Stirring rod It is used to mix chemicals and liquids for laboratory purpose.
30 Thistle tube Thistle tube is useful piece of glass for adding chemical solution to a
rection vessel.
