the volume of liquids in the
chemistry lab. They come in various
sizes with volumes ranging from 5 mL
to a few Liters.

10. Glass funnel

A cone-shaped device used to pour liquids from

one vessel to another without the risk of spillage.
They come in a variety of sizes that can be used for
any process that requires pouring chemicals
solutions in flasks, test tubes, beakers, and other
vessels. They can also be used with filter paper to
filter out impurities from the solution.

11.Glass Stir Rod

● A glass stirring rod is a common piece of lab

equipment used to mix or stir liquids and
chemicals. These rods are thicker than a typical
drinking straw, have rounded ends and are made
from a special type of laboratory glassware called
borosilicate
5

12. Filter Funnel

A filter funnel is a piece of laboratory

glassware that is used to filter solid
impurities from chemical solutions. They
are made up of a cone-shaped body coupled
to a cylindrical tube with a sieve in the
middle.

13. Watch Glass

● a circular concave piece of glassware

used in chemistry labs for a variety of
applications. These include a surface to
evaporate a liquid, to hold solids
while weighing, to heat a small
amount of substance, and as a beaker
cover. They should never be heated. Can
also be used to cover beakers or other
containers.

14. Brushes

Used to easily clean the inside of test tubes

and other glassware in laboratories. These
brushes are very durable and have hog bristles and
a wire body.
6

15. Burette

● a long cylindrical tube with a tap at the

bottom, and it is usually mounted on a
stand with the help of the clamps. This
apparatus is widely used to provide a
controlled flow of reagents during their
volumetric analysis or titration. Used in
titrations to measure precisely how
much liquid has been delivered.

16. Crucible Tong

Crucible Tong or tongs are scissor-like tools used to

grip and lift objects and avoid the risk of getting
burnt. They are used to hold crucible after
heating, transferring evaporating dishes, or
picking small objects out of a reaction
container.

17. Electronic balance

● a device that is used for weighing

substances or objects, usually in
grams. They are highly sensitive and can
even weigh 0.001 gm of a substance.
7

18. Disposable pipette

They consist of a long, slender tube and a molded bulb

which can be gently compressed and relaxed to
remove or dispense a desired liquid. Used for moving
small amounts of liquid from place to place. They
are usually made of plastic and are disposable

19. Bunsen burner

● a kind of gas burner used as laboratory

equipment; it produces a single open gas
flame, and is used for heating,
sterilization, and combustion.

20. Tripod

A three-legged platform that is used to support

vessels while they are being heated on a
bunsen burner. It is made of light metals such as
stainless steel or aluminum and is designed to be
light and easy to carry.
8

21. Wire Mesh

● Wire mesh, also known as wire gauze, is a metal

wire interwoven sheet that sits between the
beaker and the tripod stand. It is an important
piece of supporting equipment in a laboratory,
as glassware cannot be heated directly with the
flame of a Bunsen burner, and requires the use
of a wire gauze to diffuse the heat, helping to
protect the glassware furthermore it helps
to Spread the flame out for more even
heating.

22. Water Bath

A water bath is a laboratory equipment that

is used to incubate samples at a constant
temperature over a long period of time.
Water bath is a preferred heat source for
heating flammable chemicals instead of an
open flame to prevent ignition

23. Melting Point Apparatus

● a laboratory device that is used to determine

the melting point of an element with great
precision and accuracy. The temperature at
which the state of a substance changes from
solid to liquid is said to be its melting point.
9

24. wash bottle

A regular plastic bottle attached to a nozzle

with a screw-top lid, and it is used to rinse
various pieces of laboratory glassware,
such as test tubes and round bottom flasks,
after or before their use.

25. vacuum filter flask

● Filtering flasks are used in numerous general

laboratory procedures for rapid filtration of
liquids. Typical flask design includes a conical shape
with a flat bottom, tapered neck, and a sidearm for
