COURSE DESCRIPTION
• introduction to the fundamental laws of semiconductors
physics,
• measuring the characteristics of semiconductor components,
Course Objectives:
• calculation of the main parameters of simple electrical circuits
and application of semiconductor components in these electrical
circuits.

Introduction. Semiconductors: p and n type, generation and
recombination process, compound semiconductors. Semiconductor
components: diodes, bipolar transistors, unipolar transistors: FET,
Course content MOSFET, unijunction transistor, thyristors, phototransistor, laser –
types, polarization, modes of operation, static characteristics. Linear
approximation of characteristics, small signal equivalent models.
Switching properties of bipolar transistor and MOSFET.
