Motivation Activity: “Bawal ang Judgmental”

The teacher will give out scenarios and situations to the students that
shows bias. The student, who experienced the given scenario, whether they are
the ones who did the action in the receiving end, should show their thumbs up.
On the other hand, thumbs down for those who did not experience this at all.

Activity Indicator 3: Applied a range of teaching strategies to develop critical and

Activity: My Opinion to Certain Issues

The teacher will present different pictures or situations about current issues in
the country. Students will give their impressions/opinion on the pictures about
social issues. Students are encouraged to be honest with their answers.

What is Bias?
Bias is a prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared
with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.

Types of Biases

1. Correspondence Bias – The tendency to judge a person’s personality by


his or her actions, without regard for external factors or influences.

2. Confirmation Bias – The tendency to look for and readily accept


information which fits with one’s own beliefs or views and to reject ideas
or views that go against it.

3. Framing – Focusing on a certain aspect while ignoring the other aspects.

4. Hindsight – The tendency to see past events as predictable, or to


ascribe a pattern to historical events.

5. Conflict of Interest – A person or group is connected to or has a vested


interest in the issue being discussed.

6. Cultural Bias – Analyzing an event or issue based on one’s cultural


standards.

Application Indicator 4: Managed classroom structure to engage learners, individually or in

range of physical learning environments.

Group Activity

Students will be divided into 4. Let the students site examples of biases from
media and other sources. Each group will select representative to report their
outputs.

2 mins Bias is the tendency to show favorable or unfavorable preference to an object,
event, or person. It is a lack of objectivity when looking at something. The bias
can be both intentional and unintentional.

Students will be given a short quiz (Identification, 1-8) about the discussion to
measure how far they understand the biases.

Most of people don’t really want truth. They just want constant reassurance
that what they believe is the truth.

Remarks The Topic discussed to Grade 11 Einstein ON October 9 was about the Fallacy
because of COT.
Reflection All the students were able to complete the tasks.

In the abstraction part, there is a need to improve in order for the students to
assimilate well the discussions like adding a video presentation to the topic
discussed.
