Motivation Activity: “CABBAGE RELAY”

The teacher will give a cabbage (piece of papers with questions) to the class,
play some cool music and have the students pass the cabbage around the
classroom, when the music stops, the student holding the cabbage must take off
a piece of paper and answer the question.

2. Describe the color blue to a blind person
3. How will you describe how wonderful the world is to a blind person?

Afterwards

Ask all students if the tip of their elbow can reach their chin

Activity Indicator 3: Applied a range of teaching strategies to develop critical and

(5 mins) creative thinking as well as other higher order thinking skills

Complete the chart below.

Analysis Indicator 7: Planned, managed and implemented developmentally sequenced

5 (mins) teaching and learning processes to meet curriculum requirements and varied
teaching contexts.

1. What are your limitations as a person? What are the things that you
consider as difficult or hard for you to accomplish or believe in?

2. What are your strengths? What are the possible things or status that
you can reach or achieve in the future?

3. What are the factors affecting your limitations? How about possibilities?

Abstraction Human beings have weaknesses and imperfections. It is with good

(25 mins) reason that we consider the body as having several weaknesses
because we have many experiences that manifest the truth of this idea.

Unlocking difficulties:
What is limitation?
limitation is something that controls how much of something is possible
or allowed.

This means that though the nature of the person as an embodied spirit provides
numerous opportunities to explore everything around us and even within us.
Our human nature imposes limitations, like we don’t have the ability to fly, we
cannot breathe underwater without breathing apparatus, we can’t please
everyone, etc. But by acknowledging, understanding, and embracing our
limitations, we will have the energy to focus on the resources available and use
our strengths to be a more effective individual

What is transcendence?
Transcendence is the ability to explore and surpass limitations. Although we
have these physical limitations, which made us think that life is difficult and
restricting, but if we reflect on our personal lives, we can definitely transcend
our limitations which made our life colorful and meaningful.

Categories of Limitations and Transcendence:

The three categories are Facticity, Spatial-Temporal and Body as Intermediary.
1. Facticity refers to the things in our lives that are already given the
moment we are born. We can’t do anything about it, but we can
change our attitude towards it. If we let our facticity define who we are,
then that makes it a limitation. But if we see our facticity as a chance to
challenge and explore ourselves then we are making our facticity a
positive aspect of our life.
2. Spatial-Temporal is about being limited due to our being temporal. This
means that we will not live forever because we have a limited period to
stay in this world. We are just passers of this place. Our limitations are
based on time and ability, “the not yet” and “the no longer”. Just like a
five-year old child who cannot drive car or cannot cook because he/she
is still a child, this example is “the not yet”. For “the no longer”, a senior
citizen cannot bear child because she is no longer capable of
reproduction.
3. Body as Intermediary. It is about having a body that links us to the world
which appears to be a source of limitation. Our body then serves as an
intermediary between the physical world and us. It is because of my
body that I experience the world as my world and not the world of
others. For example, “I can always imagine myself living like a rock star;
but I will never really know how it is to be a rock star unless I become
one myself. I can never be you, or you can never be me.”

Application Indicator 4: Managed classroom structure to engage learners, individually or in

(20 mins) group, in meaningful exploration, discovery and hands-on activities within a
range of physical learning environments.

Individual Activity

The Revitalized me!

The revitalized me by completing the chart through writing your five limitations
on the first column and your plan towards transcendence on the next column
Limitations Transcendence

Generalization
2 mins
Transcendence means surpassing the physical experience or going past or
beyond all others. In Philosophy, transcendence define it as a reality that is
beyond one’s consciousness. Transcendence is the ability to explore and surpass
limitations. Although we have these physical limitations, which made us think
that life is difficult and restricting, but if we reflect on our personal lives, we can
definitely transcend our limitations which made our life colorful and meaningful.
Assessment Indicator 2. Used range of teaching strategies that enhance learner
(10 mins) achievement in literacy and numeracy skills

Multiple Choice: Listen carefully to the statements which will be read twice and
choose the letter of the correct answer. Write your answer on your activity
notebook.

Remarks

Reflection During the first part of the lesson, I felt insecure. I temporary lost my focus
because some student arrived late. As a result, the lesson did not start well. It
was choppy and disjointed. However, I was to bounce back in the next activity. I
actually sense that learning was taking place.
