This course is a continuation of the skills leaned in the Multimedia Technology class.
Multimedia Workshop students will be exposed to a variety of software applications.
These software packages include the Internet, Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign,
Premiere, Flash and Dreamweaver). Students will be assigned projects in which they will
work closely with staff and community. These projects will included but are not limited
to: creating a multimedia graphics presentation, researching information from the
Internet and other library sources, taking and editing photographs, creating a layered
image for publishing, creating an advertisement, creating a business brochure, creating a
cartoon, creating a tourism movie on a specified town, creating website(s), and creating
an animated movie.
This course is highly recommended for all students who desire state-of-the-art skills in
multimedia technology and for those whose goal is to become proficient in the use of
current technology and software tools.
I. Gain an ability to create a graphics presentation. The student will be able to:
A. Given continued classroom instruction, practice and assignments,
demonstrate proficiency in creating professional slides/presentations
including text formatting, inserting graphics, drawings, movies and sound.
III. Gain an understanding of advanced web design tools such as Flash. The
student will be able to:
A. Given classroom instruction, practice, and an assigned community or staff
project demonstrate proficiency in creating animated images/movies using
Flash which result in a movie to be placed on a web page.
IV. Gain an ability to use Photoshop. The student will be able to:
A. Given classroom instruction and an assigned community or staff project,
demonstrate proficiency in photo design and production. Student will use
image-creating software in order to create multiple layer and lighting
effects and color correction. Students will also take digital photos and
enhance these photos using Photoshop.
VI. Gain an ability to use Illustrator. The student will be able to:
A. Given classroom instruction and an assigned community or staff project,
demonstrate proficiency in illustration tools, image handling, and
typographic features.
VII. Gain an ability to use Premiere. The student will be able to:
A. Given classroom instruction and an assigned community or staff project,
demonstrate proficiency in digital moviemaking and production tools.
VIII. Gain an ability to create an entire multimedia project. The student will be
able to:
A. Given classroom instruction and an assigned community or staff project,
demonstrate proficiency in putting together an entire multimedia project.
