Abstract
This synopsis consists of seven chapters which describe the introduction of the Noncentrosymmetric
superconductors. Further, it explored mainly on the pressure effect on transport and magnetic properties of
noncentrosymmetric superconductors. The discovery of superconductivity in non-centrosymmetric (NCS)
compounds, which lack inversion symmetry, has encouraged theoretical and experimental investigations because
these compounds can host unconventional superconductivity. The NCS systems have received a significant amount
of attention over the course of the past decade as a result of their unusual superconducting properties as well as their
other fascinating features. The superconducting and normal state characteristics of NCS Re 6Hf, Re5.5Ta,
(HfNb)0.10(MoRuRe)0.90, and LaPtGe have been studied. All of the data from Re-Based -Mn cubic NCS
superconductors show a monotonic shift in Tc with P, and the observations of H c2(0) > HP and αM >1 at both ambient
and high P point to a mixed pairing state as a potential candidate. Moreover, the pressure reported in the tetragonal
NCS LaPtGe s-wave superconductor may be a USC signature. All Our research leads us to believe that TRSB may
be related to the potential USC signature in non-magnetic NCS superconductors. As a result, it is impossible to
totally rule out the possibility of ASOC in compounds lacking inversion symmetry. To comprehend how disorder
suppresses USC, however, more research in single crystals under high P is required.

Synopsis
Brief description of the work
This dissertation examines the influence of high pressure on superconducting properties of several NCS
superconductors through transport and magnetic measurements.
Original Contribution
The Chapter I briefly expounds the basic introduction of superconductivity, including the significance of
noncentrosymmetric superconductors and its superconducting properties under pressure. The Second Chapter
describes the experimental approaches that have been applied to the investigation of few noncentrosymmetric
superconducting compounds under ambient and high pressure.
The Chapter III distinguishes the effect of high pressure on the superconducting, vortex pinning, and
structural properties of a polycrystalline, non-centrosymmetric superconductor Re 6Hf. The superconducting
transition temperature,Tc, reveals a modest decrease as pressure increases with a slope of -0.046 K/GPa (-0.065
K/GPa) estimated from resistivity measurements up to 8 GPa (magnetization measurement ~ 1.1 GPa). Structural
analysis up to ~18 GPa reveals monotonic decreases of lattice constant without undergoing any structural transition
and a high value of bulk modulus 333.63 GPa, indicating the stability of the structure. Furthermore, the upper
critical field and lower critical field at absolute temperature decrease slightly from the ambient pressure value as
pressure increases up to 2.5 GPa. In addition, analysis of ρ(T,H) up to 2.5 GPa using thermally activated flux flow
of vortices revealed a double linearity field dependence of activation energy, confirming the coexistence of single
and collective pinning vortex states. Moreover, analysis of critical current density using the collective pinning theory
showed the transformation of to pinning as pressure increases, possibly due to migration of grain boundaries.
Besides, the band structure calculations using density functional theory show that density of states decreases
modestly with pressure.
The Chapter IV describes the effect of hydrostatic pressure on the superconducting and normal state
properties of the NCS superconductor Re 5.5Ta using transport, magnetization, and band structure studies. The T c
reveals a modest decrease of ~ 0.52 K as the external P is raised to 8 GPa. We found the Maki parameter >1,
suggesting the significant role of Pauli pair breaking effect. Furthermore, the lower critical field was found to
decrease with a rate of -1.74 mT GPa -1 as pressure increases to 1.05 GPa. Analysis of thermally activated flux flow
(TAFF) region of ρ(T,H) using Arrhenius equation reveals the coexistence of single and collective vortex states.
Further analysis of critical current density indicates that the surface and volume pinning centers coexist and remain
unaffected with varying pressure. Band structure calculations were performed using density functional theory and
reveal a large bulk modulus 289 GPa, suggesting poor compressibility. In addition, we found that the density of
states at the Fermi level barely reduces, even at pressures of up to 20 GPa.
Chapter V discuss about the impact of hydrostatic pressure on superconducting, and pinning properties of
Re-based NCS (HfNb)0.10(MoRuRe)0.90 alloy through field- and pressure- dependent transport, and magnetic
measurements. It is observed from the field dependence of resistivity measurements that the decrease of H c2(0) and
the increase of coherence length (ξ0) up to 2.9 GPa, and the monotonic decrease of T c up to 12 GPa with the rate of -
0.034 K/GPa. The Maki parameter > 1 and H c2(0) > HP up to 2.9 GPa suggest the possible existence of non-BCS
mechanism. The double linearity of U 0(H) in the TAFF region of ρ(T,H) confirms the coexistence of single and
collective vortex states up to 2.9 GPa. The field dependence of magnetic measurements exhibits the decrease of
lower critical field at 0 K up to 1.2 GPa. The small negative pressure coefficient, residual resistivity ratio, and the
critical current density (Jc) are small and it suggests the dominance of disorder in the crystal structure. Pressure
dependence of Jc analysis confirms the change of grain boundaries with migration. So, the disorder plays the vital
role in α-Mn cubic structured Re-based NCS superconductors for the suppression of anti-symmetric SOC which
could be raised from the lack of crystal inversion symmetry and Re atoms.
Chapter-VI: We have report the enhancement of T c from 3.06 K to 3.94 K in α-ThSi2 structured non-
centrosymmetric superconductor LaPtGe under hydrostatic pressure up to 6 GPa through temperature dependence of
electrical resistivity [ρ(T)] measurements. In addition discrete trend in T c, residual resistivity ratio, and ΔTc around
2.5 GPa suggests the change in superconducting mechanism by increasing P. The increase of Hc2(0) from 0.7 T to
0.92 T was observed from the ρ(T) measurements under various magnetic field with pressure up to 2.45 GPa.
Further, the changeover of discrete trend in temperature dependence of H c2 with pressure suggests the possibility of
multi-gap superconductivity. Change in pressure dependence of unit cell parameters at 2.6 GPa can be associated
with the superconducting TRSB. The U 0 calculated using Arrhenius relation in the thermally activated flus flow
region, Double linearity observed from the U0(H) suggests the transition of single vortex to a collective vortex state.
Chapter VII deals with a summary of all our results. The results show the significant effect of external pressure
on the superconducting properties of NCS superconducting materials.
Conclusion
We have investigated the superconducting and normal state properties of NCS Re 6Hf, Re5.5Ta,
(HfNb)0.10(MoRuRe)0.90 and LaPtGe. All the results of Re-Based α-Mn cubic NCS superconductors exhibits the
monotonic change of Tc with P and the observed Hc2(0) > HP and αM >1 at both ambient and high P suggests the
possible signature of mixed pairing state. Further the possible signature of USC with pressure observed in the
tetragonal NCS LaPtGe s-wave superconductor. All Our investigations suggest the possible signature of USC in
non-magnetic NCS superconductors could be relatable to TRSB. So that, the presence of ASOC in the compounds
with lack of inversion symmetry cannot be completely ruled out. However, further studies under high P in the single
crystals are necessary to understand the suppression of USC by disorder.
