The use of beneficial micro organisms has been proposed to treat a range of clinical
conditions that have been linked to bacterial pathogens, including oral diseases. Some
common problems of the human oral cavity are known to result from an increase in the
populations of certain indigenous bacteria. In addition, it is known that a small number of
species can help maintain a microflora balanced in favour of healthy teeth and periodontal
tissues. (Hillman and Socransky 1989; Taubman et al. 1989; Walker and Buckley 2006).

2. KUTIPAN TIDAK LANGSGUNG

Obat kumur adalah konsentrasi encer larutan antibakteri yang digunakan untuk
melawan mikroba oral, melawan infeksi oral, pembersih, untuk menghilangkan bau mulut
segar dan antiseptik. Obat kumur berperan penting dalam kebersihan mulut seorang individu,
obat kumur membantu untuk meringankan gejala gingivitis, gusi meradang dan juga bisa
diandalkan untuk merusak bakteri patogen. (Banu & Gayathri, 2016).
