Micro Perspective of Tourism and Hospitality

1. The Development of Tourism and Hospitality Industry

.
2. Structure of Tourism and Hospitality Industry
The tourism industry is a complex and diverse sector that plays a crucial role in the global
economy. At the core of the tourism industry structure are the tourists themselves. One of the most vital
sectors is the transportation sector. This sector includes airlines, railways, cruise lines, and other modes
of transportation that facilitate the movement of tourists from their origin to their destination. Travel
Agencies are also part of the structure. They assist tourists in selecting and booking transportation,
accommodation, and other services, making the planning process more convenient and efficient. The
tourism industry also involves a range of attractions and destinations.

The hospitality industry is exceptionally diverse, consisting of various sectors such as

accommodation, food and beverage, event management, transportation, and tourism services. For me,
the core of the hospitality industry is the travel and tourism services. There is also accommodation
sector, which encompasses establishments such as hotels, motels, resorts, and hostels. Another important
sector in the hospitality industry is food and beverage. This sector consists of restaurants, cafes, bars,
and other eateries that serve meals and beverages to guests. Event management is another sector part of
the hospitality industry structure. This sector involves organizing and managing various events,
conferences, meetings, weddings, and exhibitions.
3. Now that you are a student of the hospitality management program, how will you convince the younger
generations to pursue a career in the tourism and hospitality industry?
- As a student of the hospitality management program, it is important for me to encourage
younger generations to pursue a career in this dynamic field. To capture the interest of younger
generations, I will emphasize the increasing significance of the tourism and hospitality industry. I will
introduce them to the fact that tourism and hospitality industry encompasses a wide range of career
options suitable for various interests and skillsets. As part of the modern generation, I for sure know that
young people are increasingly seeking opportunities to explore the world, connect with different
cultures, and gain international exposure so I can convince them by sharing that tourism and hospitality
industry is a gateway to global mobility. Let them understand that a career in this industry can provide
opportunities for travel and working in various countries and diverse environments, offering a platform
for personal and professional growth.

4. Which among the many career opportunities in the tourism and hospitality industry would you like to
pursue? What steps are you taking in order to achieve your goal?
-As an aspiring tourism professional, I am honestly thrilled what is ahead of me. The tourism and
hospitality industry are a rapidly growing sector with a bunch of career opportunities. Among the
numerous avenues available, I believe pursuing a career in event planning within the tourism and
hospitality industry is a perfect fit for me as I have already experienced a bit of what is in this line of
career. In order to achieve this goal, I will set my goals clearly, know my priorities, enhance my
knowledge and skills, and continuously persevere. As an aspiring event planner, I am confident that I
will continuously thrive, embracing the art of curating extraordinary experiences for people from diverse
cultures and backgrounds.

5. Paste/attach a picture about a trend in the tourism and hospitality industry that you have experienced
recently. What do you think are the impact of this trend in the industry and to you as a future tourism
and hospitality practitioner?
-Minimalism and natural design have emerged as prominent trends in various industries,
including tourism and hospitality. These designs offer a fresh and balanced approach, focusing on
simplicity, sustainability, and creating harmonious spaces. I have visited several resorts recently
especially the new ones with the approach of a villa and cabana style and I can say that their service was
refreshing. Several examples are minimalist cafes, resto, resorts, and villas. As a future practitioner in
this field, embracing this trend offers multiple benefits. Simplicity in guest experiences enhances
satisfaction, sustainability practices, and authentic spaces gives genuine connections between guests and
their destinations.
