FLS & FTS CAT Engine

1. Full Load Setting (FLS) A computer programming code number programmed at the factory to
“fine tune” the fuel system to the iron set of the engine. The FLS is used to adjust fuel up or
down as much as 5% if needed to compensate for normal production tolerance of the iron parts
in the engine. Correct value for this parameter is stamped on the engine information rating
plate.
This parameter typically needs to be changed ONLY when a reason code 5 re rate (iron or family
change) is performed on a pre-ACERT engine.
Programmable from –128 to +127. This parameter is called “intercept” at the factory
2. Full Torque Setting (FTS)Similar to FLS. FLS fine tunes the fuel rate at full load speed. FTS fine
tunes the fuel rate at peak torque speed.
This parameter is called “slope” at the factory. New FLS & FTS values can be found in TMI web
when performing a reason code 5 re rate.

3. FINDING FLS & FTS FOR REASON CODE 5 RERATE ON PRE-ACERT ENGINES1. Not needed on
ACERT engines. All ACERT ratings are developed from the same iron set2. Go to SIS web and
navigate to “TMI web”3. When the “welcome to TMI” page opens, type in the “Test Spec
Number” of the new rating in the “Reference Number”field.4. In the next field to the right, click
the down arrow and select “Test Spec Number”.5. Click the “Retrieve Data button and the test
spec information should appear.6. In the serial number box, click the down arrow and select the
serial number that is closest to your engine without going over.7. Scroll down to the FLS & FTS
values.8. Change FLS & FTS to 0 / 0 when re rating to a “field up rate only” rating (not offered
from the factory)
