BAD PRACTICE 2 - INAPPROPRIATE
ENVIRONMENT

Imagine I am giving you

this class and as I am
talking, you hear a lot of
traffic noise…
How do you expect to
improve? And I am just
talking about auditory
distraction. Imagine visual
distractions
Examples of VISUAL &
AUDITORY distractions:
1. people walking by you at the gym
2. Driving - you constantly need to focus on the road
3. Exercising - you need to use a lot of your energy at the
gym
4. Walking on the street - people, dogs, cars, bicycles, etc...
5. SOCIAL MEDIA - trying to listen to a podcast while
checking your Instagram feed? That's not going to work
BAD PRACTICE 2 - IF YOU DON'T CHANGE YOUR
ENVIRONMENT, YOUR RESULTS WON'T CHANGE.

If you don't eliminate distractions and focus on

your listening practice, you won't master your
listening.

Listening mastery will require work. That work

won't be done if you are running on a treadmill or
doing the dishes.
BAD PRACTICE 2 - COMPARE IT YOURSEf
With the video below, first, listen to it and DO
NOT watch the video. Just listen to it while
cooking, cleaning the house, or checking
social media.

After that. Watch it again, sit down, grab a

piece of paper and a pencil, take notes while
watching the video, eliminate distractions and
look at the speaker. See how much more you
will remember after you do this.
