Choose two (2) of the following items and provide an argument or stand.

(25 points)

1. If you were Rizal, will you take the Spanish friars’ offer of retracting your statements against them,
knowing full well that they won’t fulfill their end of the bargain?

If I am Rizal, I will not take the Spanish friars offer because even if I take their offer, I know that I
will end up being imprisoned much worse being dead.

2. Limasawa, Southern Leyte

Jaime de Veyra stated that the first mass was celebrated in Limawasa not in Butuan. Historian
Pablo Pastells stating by the footnote to Francisco Colin’s Labor Evangelica that Magellan did not go to
Butuan but form Limasawa to Cebu. Francisco Albo pilot of Magellan’s fagship does not mention the first
mass, but he writes that they erected a cross on a mountain which overlooked three islands in the west
and the southwest. James Robertson agreed with Pastells in a footnote that “Mazua” was Limasawa. In
the authentic account of Pigafetta, the port was not in Butuan, but an island named Mazua (Masawa)
Father Bernard studied all the Pigafetta’s maps, which place in Mazau off the southern tip of the larger
island of Leyte a check with the modern maps will show that this jibes with Limasawa and not Masao or
Butuan.

3. If you were an insulares standing as a witness in front of the Real Audiencia de Manila and of Gov.
Gen. Rafael Izquierdo, will you side to the statements made by a fellow Spaniard, Jose Montero y
Vidal? Or to the statements of a Filipino mestizo, Dr. Trinidad Pardo de Tavera?

If I were an insulares giving testimony in front of the Real Audiencia de Manila and Governor
General Rafael Izquierdo, I would choose the statements that make the most sense and have the best
evidence. I don't care about where the speakers come from; I care about facts and a well-researched
story about the Cavite Mutiny. If one person has a more balanced, well-supported, and accurate version
of events, I'd believe them. What's important is the quality of the information, not the background of
the person saying it.

4. How will you disprove the claims of the proponents in the disputed Katipunan's Cry?

To disprove the claims of the proponents in the disputed Katipunan's Cry, I would need to
gather and present strong evidence or facts that show their claims are not accurate. This evidence could
include historical documents, eyewitness accounts, or expert opinions that provide a different
perspective or challenge the validity of the claims made by the proponents. It's about finding and
sharing proof that supports a different point of view based on reliable information.
