PEC UN-SDGS ADOPTION CEREMONY

O n 1st November 2022, Pakistan Engineering Council held the SDGs launching ceremony at PEC HQ, chaired by
PEC Chairman Engr. Najeeb Haroon. Chairman PEC, welcomed the principal guest as well as all of the participants and
stakeholders from various fields and sectors. As PEC is the hub for engineers and experts, he placed special
emphasis on technical solutions to achieve SDGs.The principal guest Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam (Special Assistant to
the Prime Minister) on this occasion appreciated PEC initiative to accept the SDGs and underlined the creation of a
working plan with PEC that would be used to implement the SDGs with engineering solutions. She placed particular
emphasis on target 11 of sustainable cities and urged PEC and relevant stakeholders to give it top priority. The
importance of access to clean water, wholesome food, inexpensive energy, and sustainable cities was stressed by
Mr. Jawad Haider (UNESCO).

The implementation of UN SDGs by Pakistan as a state is mandated for 2030. PEC promises to embrace the UN-SDGs
by 2025 as part of its regulatory obligations to advance the common good.

PAPAAM, PEC LAUNCH SECOND PHASE OF INTERNSHIPS FOR

FRESH ENGINEERS
P akistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAPAAM), in collaboration with the Paki-
stan Engineering Council (PEC), in the second phase of its endeavor to lower unemployment and promote engineering
entrepreneurship in the country, has issued internship letters to hundreds of fresh Engineers from Sindh and Baluch-
istan .Both bodies of Pakistan have joined hands to launch this landmark national initiative on a regular basis. Chairman
PAPAAM, Munir K Bana thanked PEC for their support and collaboration and proposed that this good work should be
spread to other fields of training at a national level. PEC officials Engr. Mukhtiar Ali Shaikh (Vice Chairman Sindh),
Engr. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar (Vice Chairman Punjab), Engr Dr. Nasir Mahmood Khan (Registrar PEC),Engr. Nasir
Majeed(Vice Chairman Baluchistan),Dr. Zahoor Sarwar spoke on the occasion of a large audience ,engineers, industri
alists and academia.
Member Executive Committee (PAPAAM) Zain Shariq thanked the guests for their presence and assured them that this
convergence of PAPAAM &PEC would continue in the years ahead.

INTERNATIONAL DEFENCE EXHIBITION & SEMINAR, IDEAS 2022

P akistan Engineering Council, exhibited at the 11th Edition of International Defense Exhibition and Seminar IDEAS
2022 at Karachi Expo Centre. PEC promoted local parts of manufacturer & local parts of industries. PEC also shared
thoughts and ideas for the growth and the betterment of economic condition of Pakistan. The main purpose of PEC
participation was to allow local manufacturers/assemblers that has developed technological innovation in Defence
related parts & their products was showcased at International Expo with the Insignia PEC - MADE IN PAKISTAN.
Delegations of Defence industries from different countries appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Engineering Council.
PEC stall remained the center of attention all 4 days (15th-18th November) of exhibition. Government officials also
visited PEC stall and appreciated the efforts. PEC officials Engr. Mukhtiar Ali Shaikh (Vice Chairman Sindh), Engr.
Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar (Vice Chairman Punjab), Engr Dr. Nasir Mahmood Khan (Registrar PEC), Members from
PEC Governing Body, PEC staffs were there at the exhibition.

LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF FINAL YEAR PROJECTS FINANCING

ny held in Multan on 24th November, 2022. Prof. Dr. Malik

.The Engineering universities of Southern Punjab appreciated

Multan chamber of commerce to join this event.
Almost 50 HEIs from all over the Pakistan participated and
250 engineering design projects were approved and
approval certificates were presented to the focal person of
universities.

MoU SIGNING CEREMONY FOR INTEGRATION WITH SECP

I n order to process and dispose applications in minimum possible time, PEC has accomplished another milestone by
signing MoU with Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), with facilitation of Board of Investment (BoI).
The initiative will replace legacy verification from SECP
through hard copy letters and automate the process over
few clicks. Verification of company owners, ownership
type is pivotal step in application processing, which takes
cumbersome time in manual verification correspondence.

2ND ENGINEERING CAPSTONE EXPO BALOCHISTAN

P EC Pakistan Development Committee PPDC Convener, Mir Masood Rashid and Vice Chairman Baluchistan Nasir
Majeed held a press conference at the Quetta Press Club. The first Engineering Expo in Baluchistan under the
framework of PEC Pakistan Development Committee (PPDC) Engineering Capstone Annual Series was held at
BUITEMS. Zmarak Khan Achakzai (Pakistani politician) who is the current Provincial Minister of Baluchistan for
Agriculture and Cooperatives was the chief guest for this very first Expo.
In the first engineering expo, about 100 final year projects of students of three engineering universities of Baluchistan
were exhibited. Ahmed Farooq Vice Chancellor BUITEMS said it was an honor for his university to host the exhibition
which showcased the projects of the students. Under the auspices of the Engineering Council, internship-on-the-job
training will be given to fresh students, which will create employment opportunities in Baluchistan.

MoU BETWEEN PEC AND PEDO

P akhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) have signed an
agreement to start an internship programme for fresh graduate engineers. Chief Executive PEDO, Engr. Naeem Khan
declared PEDO as mini -wapda and said that in a few years, PEDO would become the country’s largest energy entity.
Chairman PEC Engr. Muhammad Najeeb Haroon appreciated the internship programme for engineers and termed it
as a big step towards the elimination of unemployment. MD PKHA Ahmed Nabi Sultan, Vice Chairman PEC Ejaz
Ansari, ex-secretary C&W Engineer Zahid Arif and others also addressed the event. At the event, Director Admin&
HR Idrees Khattak on behalf of PEDO and Engr. Nasir Khan on behalf of PEC signed the MoU.

AoA BETWEEN PEC AND NTC

A greement of Activities (Under OJT program) was signed on 22nd December, 2022 at PEC Headquarter Islamabad
between Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) National and Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) to start an
internship programme for fresh graduate engineers. Chairman PEC Engr. Najeeb Haroon, Registrar PEC Engr.
Muhammad Nasir Khan, Manager Director Mairaj Gul, General Manager Shakir Ullah Khan, Engr. Sardar Khan
PEC-GB member and others also addressed the event. In this AoA, initially 30 Engineers will be engaged by NTC from
the disciplines of Computer and Telecom engineering. Chairman PEC, Engr. Muhammad Najeeb Haroon and
Managing Director Mairaj Gul appreciated this initiative for fresh graduates. At the event, NTC General Manager
Shakir Ullah Khan and PEC Engineer Muhammad Nasir Khan signed the Agreement of Activities (AoA).

45TH GB OF PEC
The 45th Governing Body meeting was held on 15th December 27, 2022 at Peshawar. The meeting was commenced
with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by national anthem. The honorable chairman PEC welcomed all the
governing body members and highlighted the achievements of Pakistan Engineering Council over the past few years.
The major agenda items, besides confirmation of minutes and progress thereafter, discussed and necessary decisions
were taken during the meeting. The meeting ended with the vote of thanks to and by the Chair.

27th AGM OF PEC

The 27th Annual General Meeting of PEC was held on 16th Dec, 2022 in Peshawar with the purpose to analyze
organizational strength, financial sustainability, deliberations and resolutions of major national issues pertaining to
engineering education and profession. A large number of engineers participated besides engineering students of
various universities. Engr. Ejaz Hussain Ansari (Convener AGM-2022 welcomed all engineers and delegates in the
27th AGM of PEC.
Registrar PEC, Engr. Dr. Nasir Mahmood Khan was grateful to the Chairman, Sr. Vice Chairman, Vice Chairmen,
Members of Governing Body, AGM Steering Committee and engineers fellows on successful conduct of AGM-2022.

CPD ACTIVITIES UNDER NEW DIMENSIONS

CPD is also taking its new shape under the on-going reforms with the guidance of PEC able leadership, to enable the
engineers abreast with advancements in diverse knowledge and skills for better employment and explore avenues to
become successful entrepreneurs in respective field. PEC has categorized the CPD activities under new dimensions
