Phenomon of Traffic Jam in Eid Fitri

Thesis

Have you ever thought how the condition of the traffic in Surabaya is? Is it comfortable or crowded?
I think most of the people feels that there is a traffic jam in Surabaya recently because Mudik in
Lebaran. Because of that, polution can be found everywhere. Indeed I wish there weren’t. When we
will go to some places, we need long time to reach there. It is caused by a traffic jam. There are
some reasons for it.

Argument 1

Firstly, most of the roads are so narrow enough for vehicles that they have to run slowly, it’s difficult
to precede each others so it becomes crowded and noisy. It often makes impatience of the driver
because they won’t come late to reach their place. Bring the emotion up, and the drivers become
individualist. Whereas I wish people cared surround and the others.

Argument 2

Secondly, after yesterday's survey it was clear that both by air and land were not jammed, but a
slowdown caused by vehicles slowing down from the front, then a buildup occurred behind them. So
the speed is different, where the A line is slow while on the B line the speed is high. Seeing these
conditions, the West Java Regional Police Traffic Director took discretionary steps by making
arrangements to fulfill route D by closing route A first.

Argument 3

Finally, most of the people in Surabaya haven’t obeyed the traffic regulation yet. They usually drive
their vehicles carelessly. They often run straight when the traffic light is red. Sure it can annoy other
drivers from against directions. Due to their carelessness, it has bad effect for others. It often causes
traffic jam in the crossroad or intersection and it even becomes accident. Furthermore some driver
don’t have driving licence. They don’t care it.

Recomendation

Due to the fact above, the government should add the traffic sign in any places and strongthen the
traffic rules. And I der the police to give a punishment to the driver that doesn’t obey the rules. They
may not make any distinction including one who doesn’t have driving licence. In adition, it should be
important to make a road with one direction of traffic lane. I think there is a chance to make
Surabaya pleasant. All of the people let the rules resoluted.

Lebaran becomes enjoyable.
