Ambergris, 1880 (after Sargent), 2017

1. The Art of John Singer Sargent which is called “Smoke of Ambergris” is a masterpiece that belies
19th century of exoticization of Middle Eastern and North African culture. A very simple art but
looks surreal when you look at it. It’s pleasing to the eyes because of the chosen color the artist
used to the artwork.
2. Eleanor Aldrich’s famous artwork made it look modern and stylish type of art. It simultaneously
undercutting the originals artwork that reminds us of the modern world. The orange pair of
sunglasses really caught my attention. Colors of this artwork is vibrant and it’s very artistic.
3. The artworks differ in colors and meanings, they may look similar but the meaning behind each
art is very different. The new artwork colors used is strong and the content is symbolic. Also it
emphasizes the expressions of the self and emotions. It seeks to manifest the movement and
