INTRODUCTION

G od hates idleness. No Laziness in God’s own agenda. God’s first assignment on

earth started with work (service). God created man in His own image and
likeness and gave the first assignment to serve. Despite the fact that “it is not good
for a man to be alone”, God gave man work to serve the earth and creatures before
He gave man a wife.

God gave every man a special gift so as to promote service and Relationship.
Relationship has no meaning with service.

The purpose of service is for God to reach others through our hands; 2 Corinth.9:12-
13.

Christian service is the act of doing work for showing God’s love to others with a
willing heart. It could be sharing Gospel, providing money for gospel, spending time
for gospel, visiting the needy and sick with a good gift, and keeping our body holy for
God. Your money, your time, your gift (talent) and your body can be used for
service.

CAPACITY

 The maximum amount that something can contain

 The amount that something can produce
 The ability to hold, contain, receive, and control something
 CAPACITY = Ability + Capability + Quality result
 The natural strength, knowledge, and ideas to manage and
control activities and situation within specified environment.
 Capacity is the resources necessary to implement your strategy,
pursue mission and achieve your vision.

1
SERVICE

 The action of helping or doing work for someone

 This is the ability of using what you have (God’s gift/talent) to
help yourself; help others willingly and readily to the glory of
God.
 Service is purposeful, intentional act of work which God uses us,
individually, or in group to help or reach others for the purpose
of His glory and blessings to our generation
 Service is the rent we pay for the life god gave us
 Service is the divine process by which God expects us to provide
the needs of those who don’t have what we have so as to ensure
distribution of His resources to all.
 The assistance or advice given to customers after the sale of
goods

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR CAPACITY TO SERVE

1) Love God and love humanity

2) Stop doing only those things you have done before and start doing those things
you could and should do. Doing what you have done before increases your
efficiency; doing new things leads to innovation and discoveries; hence
increases your capacity.
3) Stop doing what is predictably expected and start doing good unexpected things.
Don’t allow people to predict you; learn how to do things different. Bring new
varieties.
4) Stop doing important things occasionally and start doing important things daily.
If it is important, it is worth doing. Doing important things daily increases our
capacity and helps us to avoid urgent and pressing needs.
5) Understand where you are. Be a reader, and a listener. Get information. If you
don’t know where you are, you may not know where to go or how to leave.
Respond to change and don’t react to change. Don’t be too conservative.
6) Adopt a growth mind-set. Do you believe in growth and development? Don’t
think you are always the best (it is not confidence). Stop being opinionated or
domineering.
7) Invest in training for human resources.
8) Connect with others; Team work is the best.
9) Call for meeting and fact finding conference

CONCLUSION

We make all sorts of rational explanations for not serving. “I don’t have time”. “I
don’t know what I would have done”. “I don’t have any special skills to
contribute”. “These people are more educated than I”.
The reality is that God doesn’t call the equipped; He
equipped the Called. Think of Moses and David.
