Problem

During drilling a well various fluids may enter mud (gas, liquid and solids) which
affect mud composition and mud pressure gradient. Develop a program (with
GUI) to analyze and determine:

a) Accurate pressure gradient (average and log) of contaminated mud in the

annulus.
b) Bottomhole pressure log during any operation (drilling, tripping, …)
c) Contaminated fluid composition log in the annulus

Note: developed software should be capable of being tuned with field data

Given data:

MWi: inlet mud weight (pcf)

MWo: outlet mud weight (pcf)

MD/TVD: Bottom hole depth (m)

MDc/TVDc: Last casing shoe depth (m)

Last casing string dimensions

Drill string dimensions

Mud composition

φ: Bed porosity (constant or log)

RTE/GLE: Rotary Table Elevation/Ground Level Elevation (m)

Q=Flow rate (gpm)

Qi=Gain rate (bbl/hr)

ROP=Rate of Penetration (m/hr)

MWi

Return line
MWO

MDc (TVDc)

PG (psi/m) BHP (psi) Mud Composition
