before joining the seminar. Secondly, I would like to thank CEO & FOUNDER

1
INTRODUCTION
At the present time, facing thousands of candidates who are looking for a job
appropriate to their skills, salary, and experiences, maybe it is a big challenge to
yourself because you are one of the people who figure out solutions to this problem.
As a result, by presenting your ideas clearly and emphasizing your abilities and future
goals in a strong CV, you may convince an employer that you are the best candidate
for the job you're going for. Therefore, before applying for a job, you had to produce
a well-written CV and respond to an interview.
CVs help employers quickly filter resumes within just a few minutes to find
candidates that best suit the criteria set by the company. When writing a CV,
employees need to pay attention to how to present skills and experience items so that
important information and keywords stand out clearly to potential employers about
experience, skills and the most suitable professional qualifications, the reason is that
the employer may have a large number of CVs to look through, and the content in
them must be related to what the job description of that company mentions.
Achievements should have specific figures that are as detailed as possible, because
employers always appreciate the achievements of employees that have the potential
to bring good revenue to the company.
The interview helps to obtain additional information about the skills and knowledge
of the interviewee and assesses a candidate's skills, checks their suitability for the job,
provides the candidate with general facts and necessary descriptions about the job and
the company.

2
EXPERIENCES AT THE SEMINAR

The seminar occurred on October 8, 2023, with 45 students' participation from

English faculty. The atmosphere became more and more exciting when the presenter
Mr. Chuong appeared. As the CEO of PHATA EDU, an English language learning
center, it was known that he was visiting Ho Chi Minh City College of Industry and
Trade to give advice and share valuable experiences on professional CV writing and
interview skills. This would help young people avoid making simple mistakes and
losing points in the eyes of employers. After the introduction, he interacted with us
with questions related to topics such as hobbies, personalities, and future career
dreams. That afternoon, he set up a game called Find Objects to get warmed up. Ten
players were allowed to play, and the winner received an extremely nice prize: a
100,000 VND Viettel card. The next task he gave us to complete was a survey in
which we had to respond to five relevant questions to assist him predict our future
careers. This activity helped us determine our goals as well as which jobs are suitable
for us in the future, such as a person can become a teacher if they possess the
following capacity to teach, think critically, and be organized. Next, at the main part
of the seminar, he asked us about the mandatory items in personal information and
gave us useful advice. We should be writing full name, day of birth, updated address,
email address, phone number, irrelevant and unnecessary information should not be
included such as gender, age, and personal social networking sites. When writing an
address, we should write the address closest to the company because there is a
possibility employers tend to choose applicants closer to the company. The way to
write a phone number is to leave a space between every three numbers so as not to
confuse the reader. A common basic mistake that students probably make is that their
representative image has an inappropriate background, makeup that is too prominent,
posing or taking photos with an unclear face will be a serious negative point. It is
likely that a CV will be rejected at first sight because the profile picture is the first
thing that employers see. They will judge such a candidate as unprofessional. A CV
with a good representative image is a portrait and a shirt that shows seriousness and
professionalism. Finally, when writing a CV, we should focus on impressive
recruiters and avoid lengthy writing. Next, in the CV section, the teacher guides us on
how to write a career objective that must include two ideas: let the employer know
the position applied for and the candidate's experiences and experiences must be
associated with the development of the company. And among them, the Achievements
3
section is emphasized by the teacher as the most important because employers will
base on this section to evaluate whether your work is effective or not. If this section is
missing, the employer will not appreciate that CV and will be dismissed immediately.
A very common question that the teacher asked the class was "Where do new
graduates get their experience?" the teacher received a lot of answers, mostly the
same: students will gain experience from part-time jobs and participating in clubs.
But the problem here is that the teacher reminded us that we must write that the part-
time job must be related to the position applied for. For example, if you apply for a
teaching assistant position, your part-time job can be tutoring. Therefore, the teacher
advised us to determine what career we will do in the future so that choosing a part-
time job will make it easier to apply for a job.
In the section mentioning the next step, the teacher instructs that after going through
the CV screening round, the interview round, when talking about your weaknesses
and strengths, you must have evidence, pointing out specific situations to prove your
words, it’s real. When asked to talk about what you did between submitting your CV
and the time of the interview, try to answer that during that time you improved your
TOEIC score with higher scores and presentation skills to develop your personality is
suitable for the job. In the next activity, the teacher asked to divide into 2 groups to
play the roles of recruiters and job applicants to simulate an interview to fully answer
questions about tell about yourself, your experience, skills, strengths, and
weaknesses. After the mock interview ended, the teacher raised the issue of
weaknesses and had to choose which weaknesses had little or no impact on the
company's work, for example: a person who is too perfectionist considers things in
many ways aspect so sometimes we can't find a way. Try to use weak words like
sometimes to lower the weakness. Regarding common questions when applying for a
job, the teacher advised us to absolutely not avoid questions but learn about
development trends, strengths, and weaknesses to demonstrate our understanding and
interest in the company.

4
CONCLUSION

The CV length should be 1 page for those who have just graduated or have less than 2
years of experience and 2 pages for those with extensive experience in that field.

we can add school activities, which are very good for those who do not have
experience or have part-time jobs. For example, if you want to apply to be a teaching
assistant, you should mention that you have participated in English clubs or classes.
Exchange school students with foreign students, work as home tutors, etc.

The most important content in a CV that employers often pay attention to is

achievements, which are results after a period of work in terms of sales achieved that
have helped that company, for example, if you worked as a teaching assistant for a
company. The center teaches English to children from 10 to 15 years old and has
helped 10 children obtain international English certificates, helping the center to have
influence and gain the trust of parents. This will be a huge plus. is large and is the top
choice of employers instead of focusing on college or university degrees like before.
The education background section can add a rating of academic ability or subjects
with a high score of 8.0 or higher related to the position applied for. In the skills and
abilities section, you should write down soft skills such as communication,
presentation, and teamwork. It's best to write down the skills you must have to be
able to fill the position that the company is applying for, and limit talking about
technical skills. Unskilled skills or personal weaknesses are taboo. The references
section records the name, job, position, phone number, and email of the person who
proves the CV is true; usually, this person is the manager or former boss of the job
the candidate did before.
