To drill the entire 12 ¼” section in 1 run, starting from casing shoe in Well Name Confidential
Shargi until TD in Al-Khalata (+/-2,300m) at a competitive ROP versus Field/Block Confidential
offsets (+16m/hr). The entire interval consists mainly of hard Country Oman
carbonates, siltstone, shale and abrasive sandstones. Date 6-Oct-2017

12 ¼” TK66-D10-Z bit with the Chainsaw cutter configuration, Habshan, Jubaila, Mafraq, Sudair,
featuring a combination of ION™ 3D thermal and impact resistant Khuff, Gharif & Al-Khalata
cutters, was proposed to achieve durability and drillability targets, limestone, shale, siltstone and

mentioned above. This run was run with a Schlumberger PowerV* abrasive sandstone
RSS BHA to drill through hard carbonates and abrasive sandstones as
expected, particularly in the lower part of the section.

Results:
• Drilled section in 1 run from shoe to TD, setting a new ROP field
record with 23.1m/hr
• Outperformed previous best field ROP, established in one of
closest offsets well-40, by ~42%
• Successful 12 ¼’’ TK66-D10, with Chainsaw configuration, 1st trial
12 ¼” TK66-D10-Z (s/n: E241440)
in the field (2nd field record of this design with PDO), proving
efficiency and durability in challenging vertical applications
• Exceeded ROP and drilled interval KPIs, fully satisfying the
customer
• While POOH, drill string got stuck due to formation collapse in
Shargi; multiple attempts were made to re-work this spot without
success. Decision was taken to side-track a new hole; making a dull
grading not possible for this trial run. LIH.
