Time to watch, listen and enjoy

You’ll listen to a song, watch a videoclip and solve a task.

Follow the links and find out.

Videoclip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW5Cf64d7KA

Worksheet: https://es.liveworksheets.com/cz3448539fg

After listening to the song and checking the lyrics, do you think this is a song anyone can
understand? Why (not)?

Besides knowing English, what else is necessary to fully get the message?

Time to observe and record 1

Important! Follow the guidelines below as stated. Don’t be creative…yet 😉

Non-participant observation

1- In groups of 3-4, agree on a scene from the videoclip to observe.

2- “Stay there” watching the scene without interacting with the other members of the
group for about 5 minutes, just “becoming part” of the scene chosen.
3- Move away from the scene (don’t cheat!). Don’t look at it now.
4- Record everything you remember having seen, heard, experienced, using the table
below.

A- What I remember having seen B- What I remember having experienced

Describe the place/scene chosen. Focusing on its Record everything you remember about feelings,
material and functional characteristics, and the ideas, etc. you experienced while observing.

interactions and relationships among people.

Open Systematic Observation

1- In groups of 3-4, choose a scene to observe (you can use the same scene originally
chosen, or have a try with a new one).
2- Play the videoclip for 2-3 minutes from the scene chosen on. Individually (and without
interacting with any other member of the group), fill in the information required in
columns B and C below while observing. Focus on place and time characteristics, and
people’s behaviours, interactions, characteristics, etc.
3- After the set time of simultaneous observation and record, fill in the information
required in column D below (without observing again!).

A B C D
Time What I see/hear/smell What I feel/ experience What I remember
(Keep a record What happens (Record your feelings, Record everything you
every minute) (Record everything you ideas, opinions, etc. as you remember after you’re
observe) experience them while done with the observation
observing) task.

Working on observation records

1- In groups, exchange your individual records. This is not a matter of “agreeing on what
each observed” but of having a new group record including what each observed every
minute. This new record will be wider and might even include differences and
contradictions.
2- Provide a 1-2 paragraph description entitled “Life at….”
