- There are five parts with 30 questions. Answer all the questions on the basis of what is stated or
implied by the speakers in the recording.
- The recording will be played TWICE.
- Students will have 05 minutes to transfer their answers to the answer sheet.

SPEAKING TEST

Part 1 - explaining - 4 questions 2 minutes
Social - interacting - Students are asked some questions. The
interaction general questions require the students to expand
their answer further with explanation and
examples.
Part 2 - explaining - 1 topic 1 minute for
Description - describing - Students are given a topic card. On the card, preparation
there is a short description of a topic, with some 2 minutes
ideas for what to include. The topic will be related presentation
to personal experience. (topics selected in the
Mindset for IELTS – Unit 1-4)
- Students have one minute to prepare their talk.
Students can make a list of ideas and key words
on a piece of given paper.
- Students give their talk without interruption from
the examiner for up to two minutes.
Speaking Preparation

Unit 1: Relationship

Part 1:

1. What do you usually talk about when you meet up with friends?
2. In your opinion, what is the most important quality to have in a close friend?
3. How do people in your country typically meet new friends?
4. Do you think relationships have changed much between older and younger
generations? How?
5. What advice would you give someone who finds it hard to make new friends?
6. Do you have a close relationship with your family?
7. How often do you see your friends?
8. What qualities do you look for in a friend?
9. How important is trust in a relationship, in your opinion?
10. Are you closer to your friends or family?

Part 2:

Cue card 1:
Describe a time when you enjoyed visiting a member of your family in their home
You should say:
● Who you visited
● Where they lived why you made this visit
● What happened during this visit
And explain what you enjoyed about this visit.

Cue card 2:
Describe your family.
You should say:
● how many members your family has
● what they do
● how close you are
and explain why your family is important to you.
Unit 2: Places and buildings
Part 1:
1. Can you describe your favorite building in your hometown? Please explain why it is
your favorite.
2. How do the buildings in your city reflect its culture and history?
3. What types of places do people in your area like to visit for leisure and why?
4. Has your hometown changed in terms of buildings and infrastructure in the last
decade? Could you describe one of the significant changes?
5. What do you think the future buildings in your city will look like, and what features do
you think they should have?
6. What are some public facilities that your hometown have and haven’t had?
7. What are some facilities for health care in your hometown?
8. What are some facilities for education in your hometown?
9. What are some tourist attractions in your hometown?
10. What building in CTU impresses you most? Why?

Part 2:

CUE CARD 1
Describe a new public building in your place.
You should say:
· where the place is
· how you get there
· what it looks like
· and explain why you like this place and often go there.

CUE CARD 2
Describe a building or construction you saw and which impressed you.
You should say:
· where it is/was
· what it looks like
· when you saw it
and explain why it impressed you.
Unit 3: Education and employment
Part 1:
1. What subject do you like best? Why?
2. What do you often do after class?
3. Do you prefer to study in the morning or at night? Why?
4. What would you like to change about your school?
5. Do you find it hard to manage time to study?
6. What was your dream job when you were a kid?
7. What jobs are popular in your country?
8. What should students do to have good jobs in the future?
9. Why did you choose your major?
10.What would be your ideal job after graduation?

Part 2:
Cue card 1:
Describe a school that you went to.
You should say:
– Where the school was
– When you went there
– What the school and the teachers were like
– And explain what you liked and disliked about it.

Cue card 2:
Describe a time when you learnt something new.
You should say:
- what you learnt
- how you learnt it
- what the result was
- and explain how you felt about learning something new
Unit 4: Food and drink
Part 1:
1. What is your favourite food and drink?
2. What is the most popular dish in Vietnam?
3. What are some traditional dishes In your country?
4. Do you have a healthy diet?
5. Have you ever tried foreign foods?
6. Do you like dining out or eating at home?
7. Did you learn how to cook when you were younger?

Part 2:

Cue card 1:
Describe a popular meal from your country that you like to eat.
You should say:
- what the meal is
- why it is popular in your country
- why you like it
and say why you would recommend it to a visitor to your country.

Cue card 2:
Describe a special occasion when you had a really enjoyable meal.
You should say:
- what the occasion was
- who was at the meal
- what you ate
and explain why the meal was so enjoyable.
