METHODOLOGY

The researchers conducted a case study by interviewing locals of barangay Sampaloc, Sorsogon
City with questions that are relevant to the study. They congregated at their chosen location to
gather data with their materials: paper containing the guide questions and their smartphones for
documentary and recording. And using the semi-structured method, they began by asking people:

1. How long have you resided here in Sampaloc/Poblacion?

2. Do you believe in supernatural beings?
3. If yes, what do you believe in? If no, why?
4. Have you seen or heard about any supernatural stories here in
Sampaloc?
5. Does it scare you?

Because majority of the respondents were the elderly, the researchers used the Bicol dialect,
specifically Sorsoganon, as the means to effectively communicate. During the said interviews,
one would ask the questions, the other two would video and audio record using their
smartphones.
The researchers used a qualitative approach for this study and assessed the data gathered using
narrative analysis.
