REACTION PAPER

TOPIC: Mixed Method Research

On this topic we learned that Mixed Method Research is a procedure for collecting, analyzing
and “mixing” both quantitative and qualitative methods in a single study or a series of studies to
understand a research problem. The goal of this type of research is to provide both qualitative and quantitative
research, in combination, with a deeper understanding of the research problem or issue than either research
method alone. The basic characteristics of Mixed Method Research is to provide the rationale for the
design, it includes collecting qualitative and quantitative data.

Ultimately, I believe mixed methods approach could take the advantages of both methods and
combine them so that the research covers both the concrete evidence presented through quantitative
researched with the complex insight of the qualitative research. This method was easy to describe and to
report in a transformative framework.

As I stated a while ago the purpose of this form of research is that both qualitative and
quantitative research, in combination, provide a better understanding of a research problem or issue than
either research approach alone, On my opinion this third model of educational research help us as a
researcher to provide alternative perspective in a study.
