Methodology
The methodology for the descriptive survey research study is described in this
chapter. According to Dr. Y.P. Aggarwal (2008) descriptive research is devoted to the
gathering of information about prevailing conditions or situations for the purpose of
description and interpretation. This type of research method is not simply amassing and
tabulating facts but includes proper analyses, interpretation, comparisons, identification
of trends and relationships.
Statistical Treatment
The statistical treatment used in this study is multiple correlation. It is used to
test if the independent variables have influence on the dependent variable.
Research Design
The descriptive survey design is used in this study. It is used because it aims to
analyze and interpret survey data. The survey data will be analyzed to determine the
motivation for language acquisition of Lambunao National High School Grade 12
students. According to Manuel and Medel (1976), descriptive research involves the
description, recording, analysis and interpretation of the present nature, composition, or
process of phenomena. The focus is on the prevailing conditions, on how a person,
group, or thing behaves or functions at the time of the study.
