This chapter represents the research design, sampling method techniques, source of data, key
informants and data gathering procedure , research instrument and data analysis
RESEARCH DESIGN
SAMPLING
In this research our group has decided to use a Questionnaire Sampling method. A
questionnaire is not a type of sampling. Sampling refers to the way that subjects are chosen.
They could be chosen randomly (there are many variations on random sampling) or by non-
random sampling. A questionnaire is the instrument that asks the subjects questions This
Sampling was conducted in our classroom inorder to know if the answers that we got have a
positive effect or a negative effect on our classmates.
TECHNIQUE
The we used is questionnaire sampling method Questionnaire sampling is advantageous for
researchers because it allows for a large amount of data to be collected in a relatively short
period of time, and it is relatively cost-effective compared to other methods. Additionally,
questionnaires can be designed to collect both quantitative and qualitative data, providing a
more comprehensive understanding of the topic being studied.
RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT
This study was conducted in Phinma University of Iloilo specifically on the Senior High School
Department building since the focus of the study was about the effects of online game addiction
to senior high school students on their academic performance.
RESEARCH RESPONDENTS
the participants of the study are the grade eleven and also the grade twelve students of the
Phinma University Of Iloilo. The researchers choose twenty six respondents to answer coming
from any strand offered by the school mostly the tvl. The researchers carefully chose the
students were involved in online games.
PROCEDURE
The procedure outlines the step-by-step process of data collection, ensuring that ethical
standards are upheld throughout the study. Here's an overview of the procedure:
Ethical Considerations: Before commencing the study, we will obtain ethical approval from
relevant authorities, ensuring that the research adheres to ethical guidelines and safeguards the
rights and well-being of participants.
Informed Consent: Prior to data collection, participants will be provided with detailed
information about the study objectives, procedures, and potential risks and benefits. They will
have the opportunity to voluntarily consent to participate, with the assurance of confidentiality
and anonymity.
Data Collection: We will utilize a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to gather
comprehensive data on the relationship between online gaming and academic performance.
This may involve administering surveys, conducting interviews, or analyzing academic records,
depending on the research design.
Data Management: All data collected will be securely stored and managed in accordance with
data protection regulations. Measures will be implemented to ensure the confidentiality and
anonymity of participants, with access restricted to authorized personnel only.
Analysis and Reporting: Once data collection is complete, rigorous analysis procedures will be
conducted to examine the relationship between online gaming behavior and academic
performance. Findings will be reported accurately and transparently, contributing to the body of
knowledge on this topic.
As the respondent and procedure coordinator, I am committed to executing these tasks
diligently, contributing to the overall success of the research endeavor. By adhering to ethical
standards and implementing robust procedures, we aim to generate valuable insights into the
effects of online games on students' academic outcomes.
INSTRUMENTATION
In This Chapter We Choosed The Questionnare Sampling To Used In Gathering the data. The
questionnaire consisted of yes or no and scaling questions that determined the effects of online
game addiction to senior high school students’ academic performances.
QUESTIONNAIRE
These are the following questions that we have used in our interviews, the participants have to
explained their answers.
