Chapter 2

METHODOLOGY

This Chapter presents the Used Method, Source of Data, Gathering Instruments,

Sampling Technique, Data Gathering Procedure, Statistical Treatment of the Study,

Research Procedure, Research Instruments, Data Collection, Data Analysis, Ethnical

Consideration, and Respondents of the Study.

Used Method

The Method used in this study includes conditions concerning the nature of the

group of persons or a class of events which involved procedures of induction, analysis,

classification, enumeration, and measurements. The quantitative method falls under this

classification.

Source of Data

Primary Data were gathered from Grade 12 students of Holy Cross College of

Sasa, Inc. who have their E-Wallets account. Source of the secondary data were from

different people who have different knowledge of having an E-Wallets.

Gathering Instrument

The researcher-made questionnaire was validated by a credible individual and

was tested in terms of its reliability. The data gathered during the reliability test yielded a

Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.800 for the taste indicator; 0.859 for the appearance

indicator; and 0.828 for the variety of toppings indicator. All these are interpreted as

Good. This means that all the items in the survey questionnaire were reliable. During

the conduct of the study, quantitative feedbacks were obtained from the respondents

through a Likert scale based on the following standards: 4 - Strongly Agree; 3 - Agree; 2

- Disagree; and 1 - Strongly Disagree. The mean range matrix is shown below.

Mean Range Matrix

Mean Range Description Interpretation

3.26 - 4.00 Strongly Agree Very High

2.51 - 3.25 Agree High
1.76 - 2.50 Disagree Low
1.00 - 1.75 Strongly Disagree Very Low

Sampling Technique

The Researchers made use of the universal sampling method, out of the five (5)

present grade 12 section in the senior high school department, the researchers only

took thirty (30) respondents for this study. Twenty-seven (27) of the thirty respondents

were students, while the other three (3) are adults.

Data Gathering Procedure

The Procedures Performed by the researcher in order to obtain the complete and

absolute information were the following:

a) Conducted the interview to the students by sending them a Google Forum

through direct message.

b) Proceeds to guide them to a designated site for further questioning.

c) Promise to not disclose their shared information and identify. If there is a leak on

their shared information we would proceed to take appropriate responsibility and

action.

Statistical Treatment

The variables in problem no. 1 which is comprised of the questions that were

used to determine the online services of E-wallets. On the other hand, variables in

problem no.2 which I comprised of the following questions that the researchers used to

determine the safety and privacy of E-wallets.

Research Design

The study adopted descriptive survey. The design is consider suitable for the

study as it involves gathering data from members of the population in order to determine

its current status in regard to one or more variables. Moreover, as survey reports things

the way they are. A survey study serves the following purposes: to obtain information

that describes the existing phenomena by asking individuals about their perceptions,

attitudes and values. Surveys are used to explain/explore the existence of two or more
variables at a given point and they are useful where the study involves population which

is too large for direct observations. More still, descriptive studies are concerned with

gathering facts rather than manipulation of variables. In this regard, the descriptive

design was considered appropriate as a means of achieving the main objective of the

study which was to know how convenient e-wallet for payment method, to know if e-

wallet is safe to use on any transactions, and to know if e-wallet are more useful than

traditional transactions.

Research Locale

This study was conducted at Holy Cross College of Sasa, Inc campus located at

Km. 9, Doña Pilar, Sasa, Davao City.

Research Participants

There were 30 respondents who are using E-wallet accounts and answered the

survey questionnaires which were given by the researchers. The Population of the

respondents was composed of (12) males and (18) females. They were the Grade 12

students of the Holy Cross College of Sasa Inc..

Research Procedure

The figure below presents the flow chart of the study step-by-step procedure

followed by the researchers in conducting the study.

Figure 1 shows the research procedure

They had to make an interesting topic for their study which was an important

topic for their school. After they made the title for their research they sought the

approval of their school Directress to conduct the study inside the campus. Then they

had started to conduct their study. Finally the researchers analysed and interpreted the

data.

Research Instruments

They made use of the surveys questionnaire for the participants. And used the

personal interview method to get the data needed for their study.

Data Collection

This part presents the data collection from the following respondents and were

gathered using the survey used by the researchers. The data of this study were

compiled and can be found in the following pages.

Data Analysis

The researchers have analyzed that majority of the respondents or the students

were using E-Wallets because of its effectiveness and easy to use when its comes to

online transactions. Most of the respondents are have trust that their personal

information are kept confidential.

Ethical Consideration

During the conduct of this research, the researchers ensured the respondents

that their true names wouldn’t be revealed in the paper. They assured the people

involved in the research that the information that were shared to the researchers would

only be known by the researchers and not to anybody else.

Respondents of the Study

The respondents of this study were all grade 12 students of the Holy Cross

College of Sasa, Inc.
