CHAPTER III

METHODS AND PROCEDURES

In addition to the data-acquiring tools, the environment, the respondents, the data-

gathering processes, ethical issues, and the data analysis that the researchers utilized,

this chapter will describe the effectiveness of the approach used by the researchers.

Methods

We, the researchers used a quantitative research procedure and a survey

questionnaire as the instrument for collecting data. The survey questionnaire had two

parts: the first one included the sex profile of the responders, then the second part

contained statements regarding the availability of trash bins and its effects among the

Grade 11 STEM students in which they had to choose how well they agree on them.

Environment

This study was conducted at Fatima College of Camiguin, Inc. located at

Lumad, Poblacion, Mambajao, Camiguin. Fatima College of Camiguin most

generally known as FCC, is a catholic and private higher education institution headed

by the school directress, Sr. Mary Raphael B. Amante, RSM. This institution covers

preschool, primary education, secondary education (both junior high school and

senior high school), and higher education.

Respondents

The target populace of this study were the students in Fatima College of Camiguin,

Inc. for the school year 2023-2024. Given the large number of students at Fatima College of

Camiguin, we only chose 30 respondents from Senior High School Department since they are

more knowledgeable because they are in the higher Grade level. Additionally, the researchers

chose students who are educated enough to answer our questions.

Instruments of Data Collection

This chapter presents the research methods that were used in the study. It includes the

research designs, research settings, the Respondent, the data gathering procedure, and the

statistical treatment used. The purpose of the study was to determine waste management in

Fatima College of Camiguin Inc. The methods of gathering data used were the normative

survey. This is concerned with looking into the community of Fatima College of Camiguin

about the waste management. (Since the present is a study) the normative survey and

interview was the most appropriate method used in gathering data.

Data Gathering Procedure

The principal and directress of the school received a letter from the researchers requesting .

The request letter is again obtained by the researchers after approval. The respondents from

the chosen parts were requested to complete a direct survey questionnaire, and the researchers

gave them enough time to do so after obtaining their consent. The researchers tabulated the

findings after collecting the data, used statistical analysis, and then conducted an analysis.

The findings were discussed and interpreted.

Ethical Consideration

Before conducting this study, the researchers strongly alleged that confidentiality and

obscurity is guaranteed to the respondents. Furthermore, the participants' opinion is eminently

respected by the researchers with no discernment of any kind. This is to prevent the leaking

of personal information that conceivably harm the respondents. Any form of data deluding is

securely prohibited and thereupon must be eluded.

Data Analysis

After the researchers have successfully distributed the survey questionnaires, the data

processing process begins. Review, assessment, and categorization of the collected results

were performed. This enables the researchers to determine the outcomes by adding together

the collected data and calculating the mean and frequency. Once the average count has been

determined and the general research issue has been addressed, a conclusion will be drawn.
