CHAPTER III
METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the research design, participants, instrument, data gathering
procedure and the data analysis that were used in this research to gather appropriate
information for this study.
Research Design
This study used the quantitative research design. Quantitative research design
was used to collect and gather information about the impact of gadgets in learning.
Quantitative research design was used to describe and to test relationships between
objects. It was also presented in numerical form, and analysed through the use of
statistics. It focused on gathering numerical data and generalizing it across groups of
people or to explain a particular phenomenon. This research design was used by giving
questionnaires to the respondents of this study.
Respondents
This study looks information from random group of respondents. The researchers
ask for the total number of junior high school learners enrolled in Mayamot National
High School and Diadem Christian Academy. The researchers used the random sampling
method to gather the number of respondents. The researcher derived 50 out of 4,109
registered junior high school learners from Mayamot National High School and 50 out of
100 registered learners from Diadem Christian Academy.
15
Instruments
This study used survey questionnaires made by the researchers to be answered by
the participants from Mayamot National High School and Diadem Christian Academy.
The questionnaires include questions related to each variable given on the statement of
the problem.
Data Gathering Procedure
Upon the submission and approval of the proposed title by the researchers, and
the data gathering for the related literature and studies, the researchers also follow a step
by step processes to achieve the significant differences of the effects in the behaviour in
terms of the following: family, friends, and academics; of the learners from junior high
school from both public and private school given.
The researchers made a letter of request to inform the admins, principals, and the
teachers from both schools.
The questionnaires were distributed and were tallied after its collection. Applying
the right statistical tools, the researchers analysed and interpreted the data gathered.
Significant differences on the effects of electronic gadget in the behaviour of selected
junior high school from both public and private school were formed.
Statistical Tool
The researchers used the mean, over weighted mean and T-test to know the
significant differences of the two schools.
16
According to Del Siegle, the T – test is one of inferential statistics and used to
determine whether there is a significant difference between the means of two groups. The
T-test helped the researchers to analyse their gathered data to identify the significant
differences between the respondents which are the selected learners junior high school of
Mayamot National High School and Diadem Christian High School.
