Introductory Paragraph (but don’t include this heading when you write your CHAPTER 3)

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a descriptive research on “COVID-19 related

Discrimination towards On-site Workers”. This allows for a deeper understanding towards the

frontliners by exploring the challenges faced by them, who are still working despite the pandemic

while fulfilling their duties for the country.

This chapter presents the details regarding the research making process. It provides information

concerning the method used in undertaking this research as well as justification for its application.

This research includes the research methodology of the study being followed. The chapter also

describes the various stages of the research, which includes the selection of the participants and

how they are sampled, the data collection procedure and the process of data analysis. Furthermore,

in this part the researchers outline the research design, sampling technique, research instrument,

procedures of the data gathering and statistical treatment of data. Lastly, the ethical issues that are

being confronted in the process are also primary components of this chapter.

2nd example of introductory paragraph/statement:

This chapter presents the discussion on the research methodology of the study, the informants, sampling

technique, research instruments, and procedure of data gathering that will be used for accurate data

analysis and interpretation.

Research Method

This study will employ the use of the observation type of research to determine the Difficulties

encountered by the Grade 12 Students in Distance Online and Modular Learning. Observation

research aims accurately and systematically observe the behavior of the informants based on the

situation or phenomenon. It can answer what and why questions Bhasin (2020). This is also

qualitative method and the researcher will conduct an interview to know and observe what are the

difficulties of grade 12 students in distance online and modular learning.

Informants of the Study

The informants of the study are Grade 12 Students from Arellano University. Additionally, the

researchers focuses on senior high school HUMSS students of Arellano University – Pasig as their

sample population, with the accumulation of at least 20 responses from these online or modular

students.. The researchers chose these as their informants due to its convenience and

appropriateness to the researcher’s study. Because the study aim to address their experiences

related to the difficulties they encounter in distance online or modular learning.

Sampling Technique

When choosing the participants for the study, the researchers use judgment or purposive sampling,

a nonrandom technique, wherein researchers deliberately select a sample based on their prior

knowledge about the study and from the population, in which they are in, and must be characterized

to be as grade 12 students since they often experience difficulties during online classes, hence, the

aforementioned will serve as the qualification for participation.

Research Instruments

According to Kvale (1996: 174) an interview is “a conversation, whose purpose is to gather

descriptions of the [life-world] of the interviewee” with respect to interpretation of the meanings

of the 'described phenomena'.

The researcher used an interview guide questions to know the difficulties in classroom setting of

the ABM grade 12 student.

The first part of the interview, the researchers will ask about the informant’s name and age. The

second part of the interview are guide questions related to the research they are conducting.

Procedures of Data Gathering

Before gathering information from the respondents, first, the researchers draft questionnaires that

record their responses. The questionnaires are composed of interview guide questions that is

related to the research they are doing.

Next, the researchers constructs a request form for validation from the teacher or research adviser

to approve their questionnaires and receive permission for its dissemination – to students, their

families and friends – through social media platforms.

Upon confirmation, the researchers devise ways to interview the respondents, albeit the ongoing

pandemic crisis. The researchers decide to send or contact them through social media platforms or

Google forms.
After conducting an interview, the researchers proceed to transcribing the responses of the

respondents from the said interview and analyze their responses. Then, the researchers will

interpret the results based on the responses of the informants during the interview

Lastly, all information gathered will remain confidential. The researchers are not allowed to

disclose any given information of the respondents for their safety. All of their personal data and

responses are for research purposes only.
