“Predicting future is not magic it is artificial intelligence.” These are the words of the scientist Dave waters. A very good morning to respected jury members and my fellow participants, I participant A will be expressing my views on the topic development of artificial intelligence will help humanity and I will be speaking in concurrence. Every age has its scientific discoveries and inventions. But today’s scientific advancements can impact globally in very short time. Such is the progress made in the field of artificial intelligence or AI. AI in simple terms is machines and computers learning, thinking and doing what human intelligence does. We all have seen Hollywood depictions of AI. Hollywood tends to dramatize AI as evil or the villain. There is always some kind of an evil AI ready to take over the world. Is this our doomed future? Is it humans against the machine? I don’t think so.
The reality is that humans need AI to survive, and vice-versa.
AI is exceptional at learning patterns and automating tasks. Humans are creative and have general and emotional intelligence — at least some of us. Both are skills that no AI can own. That’s why AI will enable us to reach newer heights. It’s already happening. We have self-driving cars and robotic manufacturing. AI augments the capacity at which humans can operate One great example of this is the concept of AI assistants like Alexa and Siri. Our wish becomes their command. AI is also applied to several data-heavy applications such as combatting financial crime [5]. Here we can leverage the speed and pattern recognition skills of the AI to detect fraud and cyber crime. Now we all know that these are one of the most thought provoking issues around the world. There was a research conducted involving 1500 companies where humans and machines worked together And it was seen that they both actively enhance each other’s qualities. Let me tell you how What come naturally to people like cracking a joke for example can be tricky for machines and what remains straightforward for machines such as analysing gigabytes of data in one go is simply impossible for us humans. Don’t you think that we need both kinds of qualities in this world. So AI is not taking over humans it is simply supporting humans. Now, some of you may raise concerns regarding scarcity of jobs due to presence of AI. Here are statistics that may counter your views: According to The India Express, around 20 million jobs are to be added by 2025 around artificial intelligence. AI has the potential to add US$957 billion, or 15 percent of India’s current gross value in 2035. The combination of the technology, data and talent that make intelligent systems possible has reached critical mass, driving extraordinary growth in AI investments and developments. Ladies and gentlemen, i conclude my debate in firm belief : “By far, the greatest danger of Artificial Intelligence is that people conclude too early that they understand it.
