TASK 16:

Translate the text into English:

When my father turned fifty years old, we decided to celebrate his


anniversary. My father is quite famous in our city, he is an artist, so his
anniversary was a significant event. A small cozy restaurant on the outskirts of
the city was chosen as the best place for the celebration. About fifty guests were
invited, one old friend of our family was supposed to come from abroad.
My mother made the menu, and my father and I helped her with advice.
As always, appetizers were served first. These were different vegetable salads:
carrots and beets, cabbage, tomatoes and cucumbers, as well as seafood,
marinated fish, salads with meat and pork. Since most of the guests loved spicy
food, the salads were dressed with mayonnaise and some of them had pepper,
mustard and vinegar added to them. Extremely tasty oyster and shrimp dishes
were also prepared, because seafood is considered a real delicacy.
For the second meal, three dishes were ordered: fried chicken with boiled
rice and greens, Armenian shish kebab in red wine, and traditional Ukrainian
cabbage rolls. Dad's favorite cakes were prepared for dessert:
"Medovik", "Kyivskyi" and "Napoleon", which served delicious juices
and other drinks. As for the wines, Dad chose them himself. Dad is not a
drinker. He might drink a little on a special occasion or when meeting up with
old friends, but this is quite rare as he is a very busy man. He ordered different
varieties of liqueur and martini, as well as traditional champagne.
We remembered the celebration with a warm atmosphere and delicious
food, there was a lot of music and flowers, all guests were satisfied with the
service and entertainment. Dad was happy! He thanked us for the wonderful
organization of his celebration.
