SUMMARY
Boone said that Martha lives in Texas with her
grandparents, and Marta overheard her
teacher talking about who should buy the
coat. Martha thinks she won the scholarship
jacket, but hears that she might give it to
others. She is not Mexican and her father is
stronger in the city. Mr. Boone told Martha that
this jacket is necessary. After spending $ 15,
Martha asked her grandfather for money, but

his mind. Martha was crying and happy,

Marta Salinas, born on June 10 1957, from
Coalinga, California, Is famous for her
journals and short stories, known for her
amazing accomplishments like, being in
new york times, Marta has seen a lot of
challenges like dealing with racism from
different people all around, but she has
always been positive and made it not
bother her, Marta has written the short
story “The Scholarship Jacket” because she
felt like anyone might face challenges
along the way for something you are worth
having, but don’t let anything or anyone
stop you from achieving it.
