Letter to my child
Dear future child,

Life is short and filled with challenges and adventures, but believe me every second of it is
beautiful. Either the world is cold and dark or bright and beautiful; it’s all in your perspective. Life is
brutal and not fair, but I promise it all works out in the end. Be humble and patient. It isn’t easy either,
you are going to fail and it’s going to hurt. I will be here for you every moment you need me, and ill be
here every moment you don’t. Listen to me because what I have to say will truly help you in life. Believe
in yourself, laugh and smile/ true happiness, live like it’s your last breath, love with your whole heart, and
finally do all of this with kindness and compassion in your heart for nature and mankind. I am not telling
you the guidelines for a perfect happy life I’m simply telling you what is important to me and what makes
me happy. Of course as you grow older you will find things that are important to you and you’ll learn
your own lessons and go through your own battles, but as of now I’m here to guide and love you until you
grow your own wings.

No matter how many people hold you back or tell you that you are wrong, if you know it is
correct in your heart, fight for it. Promise me you’ll keep your mind open as well. Others deserve to share
their opinions and thoughts just as much as you do so don’t be so stubborn headed that people hate you.
Open your mind to beautiful worlds and views. Go to Africa and learn their ways of life, go to France and
experience a new culture, learn from people and learn from nature. People won’t care about something
unless you show them you care. That doesn’t mean you can end world hunger, but as one person you can
take a step in solving that problem. Believe in yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The world and its people try to tear you down and take away your smile; I don’t understand why.
I believe it has something to do with jealously. There is darkness in this world but you are the light that
can shower the darkness with golden rays of happiness. This is a lesson I learned from your father that I
want to share with you. He told me how people concentrate only on the bad things in life and never on the
good. He proved his point by talking about history class and how all we learn about is the wars and
plagues instead of who invented the light bulbs. I was having an incredibly terrible day and your father
told me to look for the smiles. That is the most incredible advice we can give you. Look for the smiles
and you’ll smile too. So my sweet child look for the smiles on your dark days and smile and laugh for
those who are in need of a smile.

Yesterday, today, tomorrow and the rest of your life is yours. Don’t waist it trying to be perfect or
to make people proud of you. Just live as if it’s your last day and think is this making me happy and if it’s
not then change it. You never know when life is going to end my sweet child. Honestly life isn’t always
fun but if you want to watch a sunset make time for yourself to see it. Don’t live your life trying to please
all the others in your life.

I know it doesn’t always work out this way and I don’t expect you to find the love of your life
how I did, but I do expect you to love with all of your heart. And don’t go around giving your heart out to
strangers; I want you to give your heart to your best friend. Your father almost gave me a heart attack in
10th grade when we got into an argument about how lust is the first form of love. We were best friends
during this argument and I have since then showed him how I love him. But friendship is the first form of
love. When the time comes and you find your love show them all you are with all of your love and if they
don’t love you back then just know every second of that love was worth every second of pain and that
they weren't worth you.
Finally while you are out becoming your own beautiful person and growing in this world, do all
of this with empathy and compassion in your heart for the earth and people. Smile at the sun as it comes
up, sing with the moon as it goes down, and appreciate the flowers and the trees, respect people that
deserve respect, help those that need help, understand that everyone has kindness in their heart. There is
nothing I can say or do to prepare you for the world or life just understand that I want what is best for you
and that I will always love you. All I can ask of you my child is to breathe life and love and happiness!
That is what you need to do. That is what I need you to do. 121
