The diagram depicts how leather products are made for retail use.

It has a total of eight to ten steps.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is apparent that the process starts from the drying step which is a
man-made process, and finished with the production of consumer products.

First, animal skin is dried under the heat of the sun by hanging it on a rope. After that, they are brought
to a plant by truck. The animal’s skin is cleaned with water and lime. The skins are then dipped into
more lime for some time. Afterwards, animal skin is smoothed by a flattened machine having on the big
roller.

In the next step, the flattened skins are again soaked in tannin, which is composed of water and
vegetable matter. Then, a small roller serves to polish the leather. The material is transferred to another
factory by trucks where leather goods such as bags, shoes and balls are manufactured.

The illustration depicts the treatment of animal skins before they are turned into leather products
such as bags and shoes. It has a total of ten steps.

Overall, the diagram shows that it is necessary for animal skins to undergo a number of
treatments before they can be made into everyday household items. The process is still a
complex and lengthy one despite being mostly done by machinery rather than by hand.

At the start of the process, the animal skins are dried and then they are shipped to a factory for
processing. In the factory, a mixture of water and lime is used to wash away dirt and impurities
from the skin. Next, the washed skin is soaked in lime water before being smoothed.

At a later stage in the procedure, the flat skin is soaked in a mixture of water and vegetable
matter (called 'tannin'). The leather is then polished with a roller to improve its appearance. Once
this is complete, the treated leathers are shipped to another factory for leather goods production,
where they are made into a number of everyday products such as footwear and sportswear in
preparation for shipping.
