Paragraph Question:
There are plenty of things that I have learned from the materials discussed at the
beginning of this semester until now. I realized how significant the contribution of correct and
proper pronunciation is to this lesson. This class has one of the most challenging materials I
have ever known, making me realize how complex language studies can be. I learned about
morphemes, processes of word formation, structure classes, and many more. Furthermore,
based on the Qiao Liu and Yeung journal studies, I can further understand that
morphological awareness can significantly improve students' reading comprehension and
vocabulary through word reading and recognition processes. The journal studies also show
how morphological awareness may impact reading comprehension in children that are native
speakers of English and those who learn English as their second language (in this case, the
Chinese children). The result shows that morphology is influential in ESL students' reading
comprehension. Therefore, as a student myself, I think it is vital to be aware of morphology
since it can indirectly affect our reading comprehension.
