Proposed title for my project: Mental Health Based Art Piece

What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that
connects with a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that

My inquiry question is:

How affective is art at rasing awareness about mental health?

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are
choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect
to your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

I chose this inquiry question because i want to find out how i can make it most known that
people arent alone.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this

area of inquiry?

I already have mental heakth issues and I know how it affects me so thats the background
knowledge i already have.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What
connections does this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

My inteneded career is a tattoo artist and this project has to do with art and using my art skills.
When people gets tattoos its normally so they can express themselves and this project lets
me express myself and the emotions me and many others may feel.

Personal Awareness & Responsibility

Strengths:
1. I can express my needs and seek help when needed.
In class when I don’t understand something I don’t just sit in class and do nothing, I will

always ask for help even when I don’t want to admit that I need it.

2. I can set goals, regulate my emotions and preserve in difficult situations.

Since I started coaching soccer I have set goals to make each practice or game better than the
next and at times it can be very difficult not to get mad but I take a minuet to think and
separate my emotion from what I am doing which can make it easier to focus.

Weakness:
1. I understand my decisions and actions can affect me.
Sometimes I do before I think which doesn’t always go well because I never get what I want
to accomplish done if I do something without preparation. As well I make decisions without
thinking about how it will affect whatever I’m dealing with.
Social Responsibility
Strengths:
1. I value diversity, defend human rights, advocate for others, and act ethically in all my
interactions, including online
When meeting new people, I will never treat them differently for what they believe in, what
they are going through, who they are as a person. Unless they have given me a reason to not
like them but other than that I believe everyone deserves the same respect and no one
should be belittled for who they are. I may make decisions without thinking about my own
consequences, but I try to put others first all the time. I value equality.
2. I have positive peer and intergenerational relationships.
I try to keep all my friendships in life positive and some of them are with different generation
because I find I get along with older people rather than people my age. Growing up I never
really got along with people my age because I was heavily bullied which lead me to be closer
with older people like my parents friends.
Weakness:
1. I can Identify and appreciate different perspectives on issues and use and evaluate
strategies to resolve problems.
As good as I can be with take other suggestions into consideration, I’m also really good at
going with what I think is best and ignoring others because it’s comfortable and I’m not good
at going out of my comfort zone.

Critical Thinking
Strengths:
1. I can analyze and critique my work and my learning.
I believe that I am good at critiquing my work, and a little too much at times. If I find I am not
really understanding what I am learning, I will keep going over my notes and if I still don’t

 understand I will ask for help.
2. I can assess my progress.
I am good at self-evaluation and I am able to figure out what might be wrong with whatever I
am doing and change whatever that might be.
Weakness:
1. I can ask good quality questions, gather relevant information, and come up with well-
developed conclusions.
I am not always very good at asking questions that have a good answer behind it. Which I
need to work on because I only ever ask surface based questions.
Communication
Strengths:
1. I can use the environment around me, including others, and my unconscious mind to
generate new ideas.
I am really good at constantly thinking of ideas for all different things and if it doesn’t work
then I have no problem thinking of a solution, like when I was planning out my capstone
project idea. I had many ideas that would have worked as well as the one I picked.
2. I can listen, learn to contribute meaningfully to discussion and debate, consider
different perspectives, and build consensus.

Once i finish my project i will present it by either just bringing in bte canvases or taking picures
of them and doing a power point.

Description of my Capstone project. Specific Project Details of the Capstone Project: what
will you research, create, study, produce, solve, investigate? What product will be produced
at the end of this project for evaluation. Write a one-page description outlining your
proposal.

I will be creating 5 to 8 canvses with the biggest one being in the center with a girl being the
most upset in black and white, the canvases around the outsides will have diffrent people with
varias emotions, in colour. The people around the outside are representing that no matter
what you are going through, you are not alone in how you feel.

access/learn all of the resources necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail
your plans.

I will need canvases, paint and a computer for insperation.

project?

My mentor is Mr.Dykman, he will help me solitify my ideas andgive me critical feedback while
going through the painting process.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee
that might affect progress with your Capstone Project?

A obstacle i might face on the way would be my self criticism because when I do art i find that
i am fighting with myself while im doing it and i end up giving up on it.
