(1) Modes of acquisition of Application software.

o There are many different ways to acquire application software.


Some of the most common modes of acquisition include:

 Purchase: This is the most common mode of acquisition. The software is purchased from a
vendor and installed on the user's computer.
 Lease: This mode of acquisition allows the user to rent the software for a period of time. This is
often a good option for businesses that need to use the software for a limited period of time.
 Freeware: This software is available for free download from the internet. It is often ad-supported
or has limited functionality.
 Shareware: This software is available for free trial download from the internet. If the user
decides to keep the software, they must pay a registration fee.
 Open source software: This software is developed and distributed freely by a community of
users.
