Students who chose to take the subject have no formal prior knowledge.
Students will initially be introduced to the business world to give them a foundation to build in in the next 2 years. Students will develop an
understanding of the Nature of business, including ‘the nature of business activity’.
Rationale

During Year 10 our skills focus is on students developing accuracy in their key terms and Business language that they should be using when
approaching exam questions and the way in which we answer longer answer questions (which differs in A Level).
The order in which the course has been set is down to not only mixed ability but having seen previous results through different cohorts, this is
proven to be a more beneficial as it will ease them into the course for year 10. By building knowledge and understanding of basic business
concepts, students will be able to develop their analysis of business activities and enrich their writing and application.

Students have now studied a year of Business. These topics are more challenging in nature however the exam skills they have learnt and
practiced in Year 10 can be used here.
They have now built on their knowledge and are well established to challenge themselves with more comprehensive content. This will prepare

students for both papers at the end of year 11 that include the business world and business perceptions. Both units assess content from all six
topic areas, so learners will be required to draw together knowledge, skills and understanding from across the subject content in each
assessment.
CPD sessions have proven that these three components are better off for year 11 study as students are more mature in their business knowledge
and have a deeper understanding of business contexts. By this stage they should have developed their writing skills and ability to apply context
to their answers to form an argument.
