The Royal Children’s hospital provides a home environment for the childrens and families. The hospital has
a variety of treatments requiring specialist pediatric medical care and activities that focusing on the well-
being of childrens. The environment plays an important role in children development. The hopital offers a
safe, responsive and nurturing environments which can influences on mental and physical growths for
childrens and also a part of support learning in educations.

A child’s guide for hemodyalysis

Hemodyalysis procedure can take up to 4 hours, the children were allowed to do thier homeworks, making
crafts, drawing or wathching the TV show during the procedure, so they dont get boring. The nurse is really
good and aware of standard precuation so she disinfected every equipments before and after used.

As a flurosocopy is a procedure accosiated with the throat and stomach, children were not allowed to drink
or eat for some times befor the treatment. So, it was nice to have a choice of chocolate or cerry drinks
which contain barium to let the radiologist see the movemevt from the monitor as they swollowed. The
camera matchince were decorated with many of cartoon stickers and children were offered different type
of toys they like or book to read during the procudure. Finally they can take one sticker ofter finish.

The big headphones was provided because the camera makes noise that may make children scared of and
also the special helmet that let the children see outside of the tunnel which the movies was played. so they
can be focused and stay still.

Family centered care promote strong support from family during the child treatment and treat each child as
an individaul to support family values and strenge by engaging family in a way of emotional support which
is very important in child’s treatment.

To prepare children into the hospital, first parent must provide enough time to enjoy the family’s activities
together with their children as well a allow children to ask the questions for obtain informations that will
reasurance them. Involve the children to pack up their bag and pick thier favorite toys or items to make
them feel more confortable and familier with the new environment.
